Our respormble leaders for our last year at PRHS are: H. Sherbrooke (S. Council Rep. ), B. Femling (V. Pres. ), C. Shader (Treas), M. Stromberg (Secretary), and S. Ripley (Pres. ) . . -T '.-'■•(.■i ' ; V . ecisions, decisions, decisions! President Shirley gains moral support and sage advice from conscientious ad tadum. Pouring over brochures and travel folders, they made the Senior Skip Day to a resort near Brainerd iccessfui by diligent planning and careful co-ordination. 25 This was the year of the mini-skirt, sassoon haircuts, Viet Nam, and paisley shirts. The year of the Mod, Gemini flights, hip-huggers--the year that we, the Seniors of 1967, will remember as the turning point in our lives. After graduation comes the second phase of our lives--college, the draft, jobs, marriage. But before we go on, let us stop for a moment and look back on the sights and sounds of our high school years— We entered PRHS in the fall of 1963 as eager Freshman, proud but perhaps a little frightened at the thought of being in high school. But we chose able leaders to help us over the rough spots: President: Jean Evenson; Vice President: Glen Nelson; Secretary, Carolina Shader; Treasurer, Gayle Tweeton; and Student Council Repre- sentative, Bruce Femling. We returned the following year as more confident Sophomores, led by: Willis Anderson, President; Dale Velo, Vice President; Gary Lage, Secretary; Jerry Jacobson, Treasurer; and Barbara Hohman, Student Council Representative. As soph- omores we were proud to be represented in the Homecoming activities. We chose Norma Flem and Barb Hohman as our attendants, escorted by Willis Anderson and David Nedrud. As the year came to a close, we decorated for the graduation cere- monies of the class of '65. Our Junior year began busily and continued to be so throughout the entire year. Leaders chosen this bustling year included: President, Norma Flem; Vice President, Paul Tabbut; Secretary, Mary Nelson; Treasurer, John Waller; and Student Council Representative, Charles Pfeifle. Our activities were many and varied. We sold magazines for the annual Magazine Drive. Representing us at the Queen's Court during Homecoming festivites were Barb Hohman, escorted by Avery Seifert, and Norma Flem, escorted by Willis Anderson. In March we presented A Howling Success as our Junior Class Play, directed by Mr. Melbye. As juniors we also prepared for the Junior-Senior Prom, decorating the gym around the theme Roman Holiday. We returned in the fall of 1966 as mighty Seniors. Elected to help us through our final year: Shirley Ripley, President; Bruce Femling, Vice President; Marilyn Strom- berg. Secretary; Carolina Shader, Treasurer; and Harold Sherbrooke, Student Coun- cil Representative. As Homecoming neared, we all wondered who our queen would be. Shirley Ripley was accorded this honor, attended by Norma Flem and Carolina Shader. Escorts were Denny Johnson, Dale Velo, Willis Anderson, and Avery Seifert. In November we presented our Senior Class Play, The Imaginary Invalid, directed by Mr. Wombacher. Helping us through all these activities were our hard-working adivsors: Mrs. Bogen, Mrs. Stadum, Mr. Matheson, and Mr. Seigle, whom we thank for their time and effort. We will always be grateful, too, to the administration and faculty, for their patience, understanding and guidance. These are just a few of our many happy memories of PRHS. Each of us has his own experiences to remember, too--going to games, working on floats, drooling over the guy in the next desk, that certain dance, just goofing off, special friends--we will never forget our fond memories at PRHS. S. busily preparing for home - coming festivities. Tradi- tionally, it is one of the biggest events on our calen- dar and this year was no ex- ception. After several weeks of electing attendants and planning committees and floats, the exciting week fi- nally began. On Monday, classes and clubs frantically started decorating floats. Happiness is Winning, topped them all for first prize. A blazing bonfire and rousing pepfest officially opened the activities on Thursday night. After all the hard work and planning, Fri- day, October 7, dawned sunny and warm. f£ tMNNIN£” A The celebration continued with the corona- tion of Shirley Ripley as queen. A parade of beautifully decorated floats swept the Queen and her royal court down Broadway. True to the slogan, the Vikings won their game against Barnesville. Climaxing Home- coming ’66 was the dance, which honored the Queen, her attendants, and the victo- rious team. FRONT ROW: Rosalie Musolino as Beline; Margaret Aas as Angelique. The staff and cast of the Senior Class worked hard to present their play, The Imaginary Invalid, which was under the direction of Mr. Karl Wom- bacher and Crystal Jessen. The play centered around the invalid , Ardin, and his attempts to marry his daugh- ter, Angelique, to a dull, unpleasant doctor, Thomas Defois. Beralde, his brother, and Toinette, his maid, pre- vent this through trickery. Finally, Ardin becomes a doctor and Angel- ique and Cleante, her lover, are given consent to marry. Dmitri, prince of Russia and her fiance, is general of Tsar Mikhail's army, but is too cowardly to rescue Tatiana or defend Russia against the Tartars. Vaslav, chief of Cassacks, goes to the Tsar's court to get the ransom. He admires the Tsar, and offers to help them fight off the enemy, the Tartars. Naturally, the Tartars are beaten. Events show that Vaslav is the son of Tsar Mikhail, long ago captured by the Cossacks. Since he is of royal blood Tatiana may marry him. ROW 1: L. Seifert, J. Lammers, G. Strand, B. Nelson, L. The band loyally supported our team by playing at all the home football games, and at several rousing pepfests. On many mornings in early fall, one could see our band members cheerfully drilling for homecoming. They made an impressive addition to the homecoming parade. That night, they gave a half-time revue showing how half- time shows have changed through the years. After homecoming was over, the band started rehearsing for their fall concert, which again was a joint concert with the choir. The diplomatic band members brushed up their sales pitch in November, for the band sold that widely-acclaimed Fanny Farmer Almond Bark, increasing their paultry coffers. With the start of basketball season, the band became busy playing at games once again. The band also was busily working for their annual winter concert. Several members prepared solos for the music con- tests. In the spring, the band again practiced marching for their appearance in the Memorial Day Parade. Much time was spent preparing for their fine spring concert. One of our band members, Barb Hohman, is a member of All-State Band. fias 2-cottce ifc season ROW 1: L. Olson, B. Peck, C. Haugen, M. As the sun sinks slowly behind PRHS, our weary Shada Staff attempts to sneak out quickly on the last day of work. With the final pages sent in, we can look back on our many crises with a smile. No more worrying about sending the pages to the wrong company, no more pictures to take and develop, and no more stamping and proofreading. The most remarkable thing about the Shada is that it ever comes out at all. Memories linger in the publications room: wanting to convert it into a senior loun- ge, sorting out and laughing over the baby pictures for the Candid Shada. snowball fights when Mr. Trygstad left the room, and wondering about paint spots mysteriously appearing on the floor. When we didn't have anything else to do, we worked on the Shada. If you have any complaints, the staff's address after the date of publication will be in care of the Antartic Expedition. 5 VuJU. tyfc-lf 88
