Compliments of FARMER'S ELEVATOR SENIOR CLASS HISTORY In the fall of 1955, the administration and faculty enabled a green bunch of F reshmen to pass through the mighty doors of P.R.H«S. The following were called upon to lead the “pack” as officers: Juel Engebretson, President; Carol Huseby, Vice-President;Robert Jacobson, Treas- urer; and Rita Thorstenson, Student Council Representative. We all underwent a traditional initiation which proved to be very successfuL We then treated the Sophomores with a Sophomore Return Party. Our Sophomore year came up just as fast as our Freshman year did. We elected Robert Jacobson as President; A1 Schierman as Vice-President; Rita Thorstenson as Secretary-Treas- urer; Judy Schmidt as Student Council Representative, and Vivian Larson as Student Council Secretary-Treasurer. Mary Ellen Anderson, escorted by Juel Engebretson, and Carol Huseby, escorted by Wally Sorum, represented our class during Homecoming. We decorated the audi- torium for graduation and got revenge on the Freshman class by initiating them. A1 Schierman, Joyce Jenson, JoAnn Sorum, Jon Stephenson, and Roger Nord led us Juniors as officers. Juel Engebretson was elected Vice-President of the Student CounciL Our play cast presented “Love is in the Air.” In September 1958, we all returned to P.R.H.S. confident upon graduating. Dewey Anderson served as our President; with Carol Huseby as Vice-President, JoAnn Velo as Secretary, Wally Sorum as Treasurer, and Sanford Emery as Student Council Representative. Juel Engebretson was called upon this time to serve as Student Council President With Chicago in mind, a Senior Trip was authorized and organized. Dewey Anderson received the honors of being crowned the first King of Homecoming in P.R.H.S. JoAnn Sorum, our Homecoming Queen, was escorted to her throne by Dewey Anderson. Ruthi Klaboe and Elke Uhl held attendant honors, while Jerry Nelson, A1 Schierman, Wally Sorum, and a Junior, Wally Scheer, escorted them. No more Homework was presented by the Senior play cast. Miss Serkland, Miss Soule, Mr. Emmel, and Mr. Steen served faithfully as our advisers through out Senior High. As graduation night approaches, many thanks are due to our advisers, teachers, and ad- ministrative heads. Best of luck to all underclassmen. KNUTSON FURNITURE AND UNDERTAKER JUNIOR CLASS HISTORY On a sunny September morning in 1956 P.R.H.S. opened its doors to some eager F reshmen. Our initation consisted of everything from curling hair to washing feet. We elected Tommy Johnson, President; Doug Nord; Vice-President; Kin Sorinson, Sec- retary; Le Von Bredahl, Treasurer; and Kathy Johnson as Student Council Representa- tive. In our Sophomore year we chose Le Von Berdahl, Gary Grobe, Bart Fauteck. Janice Nelson to lead us. Pat Hauger represented us in die Student Council. We proudly presented Kathy Johnson escorted by Wally S cheer and Janice Nelson escorted by Tommy Johnson as our Homecoming attendants. Our class also decorated for graduation and provided ushers. In the fall of “59, we came back as confident Juniors. LeVon Bredahl again led us as President; with Pat Hauger, Vice-President; Sharon Halbakken, Secretary; Carmen Wirth, Treasurer and David Johnson Student Council Representative. Our Homecoming attendants were Sharon Halbakken and Rosalind Jacobson escorted by Gary Skunberg and Tommy Johnson. Wally Scheer was co-captain and assisted in crowning the Home- coming Queen. Our magazine drive headed by Sharon Halbakken and Kathy Johnson was a success. Our advisers Mrs. Stadum, Miss Lee, Mr. Hill, and Mr. Fox helped us a great deal and we broke all records. Our class has been well represented by our outstanding athletes in all sports. Also we have excelled in all other extra-curricular activities. Another highlight of our Junior year was our play ‘’The Inner Willy.” As we look ahead to the age of rockets and space travel, we see great opportun- ities for the class of 1960 for advancement and happiness. “The Class of “60. ; v v glPU-A1 'I.V-l- Site • • Mmii IMl '• .'■. ■' ■ .■ ' • ' '31 ZSES3 3E!Z ZJ 8 i m ■ •• :. : ;■ • .• • -I- V •• •••: • 1 Vj ’ ••-•••• . , S'wV, v• -r k• -••:.■•'• «‘!.; —L—. it p: : ■ • • • .• : v r” SOPHOMORES FIRST ROW: D. FOREIGN EXCHANGE STUDENT ELKE UHL In August, 1958, a blue-eyed, dark haired girl came to our town to make her home with the Lawrence Sorums for the coming year. This girl, Elke Uhl from Volkingen, Sarr, Germany, is the first exchange student to attend P. R. H. S. Elke came here under the program set up by the American Field Service. Our school has been fortunate to have Elke. This vivacious, friendly girl has become a general favorite. In addition to the regular senior subjects she is taking Amer- ican History. She is an active participant in many school activities--speech, dramatics, chorus, science and camera clubs as well as paper and annual staff. Elke, through her many visits and talks has helped both the school and the commun- ity appreciate the customs and way of life of the people of her homeland, we hope she will bring back to her people a better understanding of us. Elke plans to continue her education when she returns to Germany--perhaps to become a teacher. The students and community of Pelican Rapids are grateful for the opportunity they have had to become acquainted with her. Our wish for Elke is happiness and contentment in whatever she will do.
