R. H. S. as Green Freshman, in the fall of 1950. Our class officers for the year were: President, Elaine Berge; Vice President, Ruth Olson; Secretary, Daryl Hystead; and Treasurer, Jack Boe. Advisors were Miss Nelson and Mr. Amundson. Our greatest feat, undertaken by the class as a whole, was the traditional initiation, at which time we showed our capability of being members of this school. Also during the year, Mr. Emmel was added to our list of educators. He has very patiently tutored us in General Science, Junior Business, and U. S. History during this past three years. For all of which we are very thankful I (?) During the latter part of the fall we took an educational trip to Fergus Falls, where we went through the Journal Office and the Telephone office. Mr. Emmel and Russell Knutson were our chaperones. We ended the year with a class picnic, and as usual, it rained 1 So we went to a movie in the afternoon. Back again as sophomores in the fall of '51. Ready for revenge on the new freshmen. Those Poor Kids I! Officers chosen for this year were: President, Jack Boe; Vice President, Pat Nettestad; Secretary, Erwin Tople; and Treasurer, John Jaeger. Class advisors were Mr. Amundson and Miss Ekeberg. Our sophomore year was a quiet one as far as the class as a whole doing anything. The main events were the decoration of the auditorium for Baccalaureate and Graduation. Also a few from the class were waiters and wait- resses at the Junior-Senior Banquet and ushers for graduation. The year was closed again with a class picnic, and as usual, it rained and was bitterly cold. The fall of 1952 welcomed us back to P. R. H. S. as Juniors. Our class had decreased quite an amount since our Freshmen year, from 84 to 63. But nevertheless we were ready and anxious for another year of learn- ing. Class officers were: President, Bob Kanne; Vice President, Ardelle Rossum; Secretary, Patty Nichol; and Treasurer, Harold Osten. Class advisors were Mr. Fauteck and Mr. Sanderson. The highlight of our Junior year was our class play, New Fires, under the able direction of Mrs. Russel Pederson. Also another achievement was the annual magazine sale undertaken by the Juniors. Ruth Olson was Business Manager and Don Isaacson and Pat Nichol were team captains. The total sales were about $1500. This summarizes briefly what our class has done during the past three years. Yet it's rather hard to put on paper what school has meant to us, and how to appreciative we are of having such a fine school as P. R. H. S. to give us the basic training for our futures. We wish to thank the wonderful faculty we've had throughout these years for their untiring efforts of teaching us the fundamentals of a good education. We hope to come again next year and mark off another milestone on our pathway through life by the com- pletion of our high school training and our diplomas at graduation. Below, Oien in Action Heart O'Lakes Conference Standings 1st Elbow Lake 2nd Pelican Rapids 3rd Barnesville 4th Manohmen 5th Perham 6th Wheaton 7th Starbuck 8th Frazee The Pelican Rapids Vikings enjoyed one of their best seasons in history, as this 1952 edition chalked up an overall record of six wins against two losses. However, one of these losses was not administered in the Conference but in an intersectional contest with the East Grand Forks Green Wave. Bob Schultz, Junior Fullback, cap- tured scoring honors for the season by nosing out Jerry Sweeney of Elbow Lake in the matter of total points 92 to 91. Three members of the Vikings made the mythical All-Conference team. They were Jack Boe, halfback, whose injury in the Barnes- ville game very likely was the main reason for the Vikings not capturing the Confer- ence Title, Bob Schultz, fullback, the viking sparkplug, and Kenny Schultz, sopho- more end whose play all season long was an amazement. All three will be back next year to give rival coaches headaches. Coach Phil Fauteck did a fine job in his first year at the helm and indications are that he will do just as well next year. Ass’t Coach Lyle Haugen is to be given a pat on the back also, as he put in quite a few hard hours down on the field. Graduating squad members include LeRoy Kjos, Paul Barcenas, Jack Thompson, Marlen Sorum, Gene Bailey, Loyal Tingelstad, and Co-Captains Lewis Allan and Orlando Fladmark. Most of them wish they could Play another season but, as they can't, they can only wish next year's team a hearty Good Luckl .
