THE SENIOR CLASS HISTORY In the year of our Lord, 1914-7 the school of Pelican Rapids was honored(?) by having our class as their freshmen pupils. There were 106 In our group at that time. We elected as our class officers the following: John Poss, President; Gordon Poss, Vice-President; Gordon Anderson, Secre- tary; and Carol Swenson, Treasurer. The most Important event that took place was the Initiation Party, which proved to be not so horrible as we had feared it would be. Of course, the most fun of all was the return party that we gave the Sophomores. Our ad- visor for that year was Mrs. Olson. At the beginning of our second year, we found our number had dwindled down to 85 The class officers for that year were Ardis FIadmark, President; Joanne Moberg, Vice-President; and Bobby Gilbertson, Secretary and Treasurer. We were proud to present Shirlee Haugrud and Bemita Toftly as our repre- sentatives for Homecoming Attendants. We gave the honor of being our advis- ors to Mr. Nelson and Mrs. Martin. Our Junior year found us still smaller in number. We had dwindled down to 65 at the beginning of that year. Joanne Moberg was elected our Presi- dent and Pat Short, Shirlee Haugrud, and Wilma Fick were Vice-President, Sec- retary, Treasurer respectively. One of the first big events of the year was the magazine sale contest. Carol Swenson and Marvin Olson were the top salesman. We presented Ruth Knudson and Wilma Fick as our Junior Attend- ants at Homecoming that year. The next thing that came up was the Junior Class Play, GREEN LIGHT. Then in the middle of May, the JUnior-Senior Ban- quet took place, which is one event we shall always remember. Mrs. Johnson and Miss Olson bravely took on the Job of being our class advisors. Our Senior year opened with a feeling of sadness as one of our members passed away during our summer vacation. This person was WESLEY HAUGRUD, to whom this annual is being dedicated. This year we have asked Mr. Ander- son and Mrs. Tobkin to advise our large group of 62. All through the first three years we have looked forward to being seniors and now that we have reached the goal, we Just can't believe that this is our last year. Darlene Flatin ruled over Homecoming with Margie Schultz and Rosetta Senn as her Senior Attendants. We have given the big Job of being our class officers to Deane Issacson, Elroy Hexum, Pat Short, and Beverly Rix. They are President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer, respectively. We have many things to look forward to and some of them are the sales and parties that will give us money for our Class Trip to Duluth, which is one thing everyone Is look- ing forward to with eagerness and delight. There will also be the class play and the many social gatherings of the seniors before we graduate. Last but not least, we are sorry to say that because of the Korean War and being that he belonged to the National Guard, DUANE HAGLUND was not able to fin- ish the year out with rest of the class. Pelican Rapids High School, we will be sorry to leave you. Deep down In our hearts we shall cherish many memories of you as long as we live.
