The tightly knit band of Quartermasters are able to accomplish this by prop- erly maintaining accurate and updated charts: taking visual! radar bearings and ranges: plot- ting coursesp monitoring naviga- tional aids and hazards: logging ship's events: computing ship's positions: making celestial ob- servations: and assisting the Navigator and Officer of the Deck fOODJ in the performance of their duties.
