Chaplain, LCDR Chaplain Robert Coapman was commis- sioned in 1967 while attending the Pacific School of Religion. After completing a one year post graduate program in ethics and theology Chaplain Coapman entered active service in 1969. Past assignments include: Naval Air 'Station Brunswick, Maine, First Marine Air Wing, Republic of Vietnam where he served as Group Chaplain for Ma- rine Air Group 18 and Marine Air Wing 11, Third Battalion, Ninth Marines on Okina- wa, Chaplain in Charge of Religious Educa- tion and Assistant Administrative Chaplain at Naval Air Station Alameda, CA., NAV- COMMSTA ADAK, Alaska, Marine Corps Base at Camp Pendleton,'CA., where he was Assistant Officer in Charge of the Refugee Camp of all Cambodian and Vietnamese Refugees brought to Camp Pendleton, Third Force Service Group, Okinawa as Senior Chaplain. In July 1981 Chaplain Coapman reported to Marine Air Ground Combat Cen- ter, Twentynine Palms, CA., as Deputy Di- rector, Religious Program. In July .1983 Chaplain Coapman earned his Mastersin Business Administration' from Southern Il- linois University, Edwardsville, IL. Chap- lain Coapman reported onboard PELELIU and assumed the duties of the ship's Chap- lain in July 1984. Q During WESTPAC 85 Chaplain Coapman supervised the Library, and coordinated the scheduling of all divine worship services onboard PELELIU. 8 The Chaplain's .Office organized and sponsored three Community Relation Projects which were the highlight of the WESTPAC for everyone who 'partici- pated in them.
