Miss Eloise Melzger Department Head, University of Illinois, B.S., A.M. FOREIGN LANGUAGES The Foreign Language Department is one of the most important and extensive at P.C.H.S. Students may choose from courses in Latin, Spanish, French, or Ger- man and generally complete four se- mesters of one language. The purpose of foreign language study is to enable stu- dents to speak and understand a lan- guage other than his own and to ac- quaint them with other cultures that have contributed to the American life. As Goethe once said, A man who is ig- norant of foreign languages is ignorant of his own.
