Experience the Old To the 1963 Vekhuan Staff came the hope of presenting a story of student Hfe, a record of the accomphshments of Pekin Community High School. For us, next year ' s East Campus will bring a new home to juniors and seniors while the West Campus will remain for freshmen and sophomores. And yet, beyond these sturdy build- ings comes the endless training of students ' minds and hands. Herein lies the future, and in the future lies better knowledge. . Anticipate the New Beginning in mid-May of 1962, architects Fo- ley Hackler Thompson Lee teamed with the Kuhne-Simmons Construction Company of Cham- paign to build the new East Campus of PCHS. The structure will house juniors and seniors and may have a capacity for 2000 students. Located across from Building B will be the Little Theater, with a seating capacity of 600 per- sons, designed specifically for drama and small musical groups. Besides the major classroom area, there will also be a cafeteria, kitchen, mechanical plant, and gymnasium. Architects John Hackler, at left, and John Lee, right, confer with Howard Broberg, .irchitectual field repre- sentative. Unique in feature, the new gymnasium roof will be supported entirely by four interior concrete pylons. These pipes, steam lines, chilled water lines, and heat runs, are installed in the series of tunnels surrounding and connecting East Campus Build- ings.
