Beginning With a Bonfire . . . The Homecoming season began with a huge bonfire set off at the Pekin Memorial Football Stadium. While the varsity cheerleaders led a large crowd, the band played victory songs. The Students cheered wildly as the boot and dummy representing the Manual Rams burned to the ground. The following night the Homecoming football game took place with the Rams beating Pekin by a score of 41 to 0. During the half the court running for Homecoming Queen was intro- duced. They were escorted by their fathers. Thad Edmonds, Pep Club President, presents Queen Jinna to her subjects. Student Council members decorate the Lee Way for Home- coming dance. Co-Captain, Norman Lovelace, crowned Jinna Bailey the Homecoming Queen for 1962.

x The Pekin Chinks charged onto the field with hopes of winning 1962 Homeconimi; game. Concluding With a Coronation The Homecoming Dance, held in the Lee Way, fit its name. Autumn Splendor. The hired band supplied the evening with good music which pleased the large turn-out. As a highlight of the evening, Jinna Bailey, standing before a huge paper pumpkin made of colored napkins, was The blazing fire spreads its heat to the enthusiasm of the crowd gathered for the beginning of Homecoming. crov ned Queen of the Homecoming. The com- plete court was Jinna Bailey, De De Jansen, Susan McMains, Cheryl Meyer, and Cheryl Thomas. They were escorted by boys who were leaders of various groups around school. The Bonfire festivities ignite the spirit of the students.
