Highlights of the season came when the Mandarins downed Rock Island to win their own Christmas Tournament, and later in the season when they unex- pectedly ,stopped the highly-rated Decatur Reds, 59-58, in the season's most thrilling game. Pekin ended its regular season with a 141-10 record. In the second regional game following an easy 54-41 victory over Deer Creek - Mackinaw, a deter- mined, aggressive Morton five ended Pekin's basket- ball season by the score of 57-39. Coach jim Lewis' liberal use of sophomores gave hopes of future visits to Champaign and the state toumey, as the sophs more than once saved the day for PO-IS. a l I i I Front row: 1. Herget, B.
