q- va ,.fv ' ,A W- -- Y ff ff, . .-6555, X Foreword We, the Class of 1958, will be the last to pass through these doors of knowledge. Progress has been made and new doors have been built for the future graduates. Through these well used doors have passed tornorrow's engineers, teachers, lawyers, doctors, and homemakers. These doors will be a gateway to many new and rewarding opportunities for all of the students now attending and those who will enroll in later years. The Class of 1958 would like to thank all who have helped us make our four years at Pekin High School a success. fn. Baker, a very capable administrator, has done his best to see that the education he oversees is liberal and broadening. Mr. Baker's office door is always open, symbolic of the counsel and friendship which students and teachers alike can find there Approving a number of new methods and the purchasing of new books and equipment to make Pekin Schools as up-to-date as possible and functioning properly for the welfare of the schools and their students, have been only a few of his various projects for advancement. For the last time, we seniors, say, Thank you, Mr. Baker. To you, Mr. Hudkins, our un- tiring principal and class sponsor, we, the Class of 1958, in apprecia- tion for the many hours you have devoted to our class, leave our deepest gratitude, fondest memo- ries, and finest regards. .lack C. The Junior Play FINDERS CREEPERSH was a big success. One of the most interesting projects was the crowning of the Basketball Queen, Peggy Wix. Our biggest project was our magazine sales. The total of 51597.43 set a new record. Jon Thompson and Mary Helen Hamilton were high salesmen. The Juniors worked with the Seniors to make the Junior-Senior Carnival the best ever. Other projects which were undertaken were the sale of scarves, pen and pencil sets, and candy. The class worked hard for the Junior-Senior Re- ception, which was a big success. Sunshine Societv The Sunshine Society of Pekin High School was organized in 1936 and has been one of our most active clubs. Most members attended the district convention which was held at Crawfordsville. Our projects this year, as always, were giving baskets to the needy at Thanksgiving and at Christmas giving favors to the patients of the Washington County Hospital, and also making donations to the Riley Fund. The girls gave a tea in the spring in honor of their mothers and Ideal Ladies. Our aim and purpose is to spread sunshine and cheer to all those around us, thus helping make our school and community a happier place in which to live. It can be said that the Sunshine Society is built upon its creed.
