HISTORY The Future Farmers of America is a national organization of, by and for boys studying vocational agriculture in public secondary schools. It is an intra-curricular activity having its origin and roots in a definite part of the school curriculum--vocational agriculture. The Future Farmers ot America is a non-profit farm youth organization striving for the development of leadership, the building of a more permanent agriculture, and the improvement of country life. There are four degrees of active membership--Green Hand, Chapter F. F. A. SWEETHEART Alma Losson Farmer, State Farmer and American Farmer. The local chapter determines the individual's advancement in the first two degrees. The State determines the third, and the National organization confers the fourth degree. This organization was founded in the fall of 1928 at Kansas City, Missouri. Chapters are now located in all states, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico. Indiana was the Igth state to receive a chapter from the National organization. Each year the state convention is held at Purdue University. Each chapter is allowed two voting delegates at the convention. At the present time some 320 chapters make up the Indiana Association.
