-h 1 CLASS HISTORY .41 In September a group of forty seven green freshmen f1lled dear old P H S to be greeted by the1r sponsors Mr Paul Mahoney and Mr Wrlliam O Marun Wrth the1r help we elected Jennie Lee Young prestdent Io Ann Bohannon, vice presrdent Nancy Morgan secretary and Ioan Sears Ueasurer On the occasron of our frrst class party,we began the evenrng with a weiner roast and wound up at the Salem Skatmg Rtnk Almost everyone attended, and we unanrmously agreed that the evenrng had been a success and that we were lookrng forward to the class party we would have 1n the future In November, we chose our class colors, blue and whrte our flower, the Amencan Beauty Rose our class name, Panthers and our class motto Today we follow tomorrow we lead In the sprrng we partrcrpated in a class tournament 1n wh1ch we were pitted agarnst the so mores In the frrst game we were vrctorrous but went down to defeat before the Jumors 1n the second game As sophomores mmus srx students we agam cllmbed the hill to enter P H S We lrsted one new student Omar Dunn and a new sponsor Mr Keith Stonectpher among our ranks Our class offrcers for the year were Jerry Lane, prestdent Junror Kay vice pres1dent Bob Weller secretary and Danny Thompson, treasurer We went to Sportsdrome on our class party and a swell t1me was had by all After an except1onal1y warm summer we were only too happy to return to cnsp fall school days Thrrty etght students elected Merwyn Ftsher presrdent Danny Thompson, v1ce presrdent Jerry Lane secretary and Lee Nale treasurer We welcomed a th1rd new sponsor Mrs Geneva Radchffe On October I I953, the annual Jumor magazme sales got under way We set our goal at S1500 but unfortunately drd not reach It However, we d1d shatter all prevxous records by sellrng a grand total of 51249, w1th Iannetta Campbell our htghest salesman Our next class project was a Iunror Semor Carn1va1 It was very successful and netted each class S120 HOME CAME HATTIE Junror Class Play December 3 1953 9
