HELEN TUNCIL Tune , a serious-minded girl, likes to draw and read movie mag- azines Her hobby is photography and she dislikes study halls and tomatoes MARY WALKER Mary , a fun loving girl, rs chiefly interested in Marvin She rs majoring rn home ec so we guess they must be serious SENIOR HONORS VALEDICTORIAN Helen Tuncll D A R AWARD Faye Baker SALUTATORIAN Lee Nale SPORTSMANSHIP Lowell Albertson From Valedictonan Address by Helen Tuncxl We have come to one of the high points in our lives We stand upon the threshold of an entirely new existence, for we go almost overnight from school days into adulthood Society now accepts us as adults capable of making our own decisions and of living useful lives Only time will tell lf we live up to society s expectations of us Society has invested twelve years of free education ln us It has provided us with the materials with which to work what use we made of those matertals was entirely up to us By not taking advantage of these educational opportunities, we hurt no one but ourselves I would venture to say that there was not one among us who used those opportunmes to their fullest advantage, but the opportunity was there That is the important thing We should make use of the facilities which society has made possrble for the furthering of our educa tion Our education should not stop now with so much yet unlearned We can educate ourselves through many media continued formal education in one of our many colleges and universities, through newspapers magazines radio and television If we can only live by the Golden Rule and do unto others as we would have them do unto us, we would be domg society unesumable good People who sincerely believe in and practice this fine old rule are worthwhile members of any society and are essential to a democracy 0 I . -p gf . . . . . 0 o a ' u . . n . 0 ' I . . q . 0 . .
