Here's another studious class, Sophomores, juniors, and Seniors. They seem to be under A spell, or maybe they are expecting a test. Lool Here the Seniors guided by Mrs. Mary Hilton are learning the way to do things safely but when class is over you should see us run up the stairs on the wrong side. We don't practice what she teaches. Q- Mr. Baker seems to know what he's talking about in his Geometry Class. This award is sponsored by the Modern Miss Club and the selection is based on her poise personality scholarship leadership citizenship co-operation grooming and manners. In previous years girls who have received thi- honor are: Pauline Linn - '45 uanita Morris - '46 Marjorie Targonski - '47 Faye Marshall - '48 Emogene Mc Felea 49 Elizabeth Miller - '50 Betty Wilson - 51 and Sue Dennis - . This is the second time a valedictorian has been chosen as the Modern Miss. Betty Vi ilson - '51 was the winner of both honors.

Students at Work 'Q 3 Each morning at 10:15, a bell rings for the passing ofthe students from their second to third period classes, At this time, the Seniors make a frantic rush to grab books M from desks and get upstairs to the English class before Mr. Hudkins. The scene at the left is one of those moments when all have made it successfully to class and are work- ing like the industrious students we Seniors really are, underneath our never a care exteriors, 5 ,wwf f' K M 9 M f 'O At the right is Mrs, Baker's Senior Home Economics class. This is the class where we learned to sew as in our past school years, we have learned to cook, manage a home, and care for a family, Here the girls are at work on their blouses. flnci- dently, this picture was posed during one of those rare, but hoped for, moments when Mrs. Baker left the room.l Li 7 Y' In the junior Home Economics class, they learned the fundamentals of preparing a meal. During the first semester, they are allowed to prepare and serve six meals, each girl per- forming the duties of host, hostess, maid in turn.
