Semor Class Hlstory September 1949 that IS the day we became Freshmen at Pekm Hugh Our sponsors were Mr Oldrldge and Mr Axe From our total of thirty seven we chose Roy Tlchenor President Glenda Slfers Vice Pres1dent and Gmger Baker Secretary and Treasurer Although we may have been green the fnrst few weeks we soon returned to normal and settled down to a busy l1fe We had two class partles both at the skating rlnk Much work was put m on The House of Horrors that we sponsored at the Band Garnlval that year and lt was our prlde and Joy When we came back our Sophomore year we were fewer 1n number vnth only twenty elght Along wxth new sponsors Mrs Baker and Mr Purcell we had new offlcers Von Marshall Presldent W1ll1s Kay Vlce Presmdent Glenda Slfers Secretary Shlrley Hall Treasurer A jomt skatmg party wlth the Freshmen was our hrst entertamment that year and another skatmg party was the second thls time by ourselves Then came the fall of 1951 and we enrolled as juniors We had lost four more members and gamed one Th1s year much to the dlsmay of both classes we shared our home room wxth the Semors but wxth Mrs Baker and Mr Hudkms as sponsors and Gmger Baker Presldent Oscar Mlndel Vice Preszdent Shlrley Hall Secretary and Glenda Smfers Treasurer we clded thls was really our year to shine And we were determmed to l1ve up to our slogan Small But Mlghty Makmg money for the junzor Senlor Receptlon and Senxor trlp was one of our mam goals and we did qulte well Of course we had the JUHIOI' Sales Room to go along wxth that we bought a popcorn machme whlch we left to the school when we graduated Our magazme sales were a great success The red team w1th Glenda Sxfers as captam outsold Lew Blankenbaker s blue team Hxgh salesman was Gmger Baker VN e sponsored the crowning of the Basketball Queen at the Pekm versus Borden game A Senlor Chrlstlna Ftsher was the lucky glrl Two more of our projects were a Donkey Baskrtball Game and a class play Rest Assured Also 1n l95l Glenda Slfers was chosen as one of the cheerleaders for the Musketeers VN e delxghted 1n keepmg secret the destmatlon of the receptlon which we gave for the Semors After an hour of food and entertamment at the Leglon Club ln New Albany we went to the Memorlal Audltorlum ln Loulsvxlle to see the Irlsh Mmstrel At last the fateful date September 8 1952 arrlved and we were Semors Wxth us once agam were Mrs Baker and Mr Hudkins Offlcers Lew Blankenbaker Presldent Roy Tlchenor Vlce Presldent Mary Motsmger Secretary and joyce Wrxght Treasurer were chosen from the twenty members Thls year was the busiest ever We were up to our ears ln the thmgs that befall every Sen1or gettmg our class rlngs havxng our plctures taken selectmg our announcements bemg measured for our caps and gowns and producmg a class play Paper Plates For Papa the play we presented A year we worked toward a trlp to Washmgton D C and to our Joy we were able to fly there be Eastern Amr Lanes We helped sponsor the unlor Senxor Carmval sold Musketeer pennants sold ads for programs whlch were glven out at the Invltatxonal Tourney at Salem and sold popcorn durlng the noon hour and at all the home basketball games Joyce VN right was chosen as cheerleader and was replaced by Gmger Baker who was chosen as her alternate We were also veell represented on the basketball team by Oscar Mmdel Von Marshall Robert Plckerxll Wxllzs Kay and Carroll Motslnger Another Sennor Dale Morrxs was student manager These boys along wxth the rest of the Semor boys make up the class basketball team of vxhlch vue are so proud The WARRIORS coached by thelr sponsors were uctorxous ln the class tournaments for two years VX e wxll nex er forget the frlends that ue made and the happy t1mes we had at Pekln I-hgh Glenda Slfers 0 0 , --- . Senior Class Will We, the Senior Class of Pekin High School, Washington County, State of Indiana, being partly of sane mind, after four destructive and terrifying years, do hereby publish this to be our only will and testament.
