Those we missed were: Dessie Abbot, Lowell Denton, Mary Ann Floyd, Della Lewis, Mabel Mahuron, Beulah Marshall, Alverna Plxley, Lillie Pixley, Royal Roland, Roy Russell, Paul Warman, Glen Wilson, and Guy Dean Bush. Three new members entered, Pauline Griffen, Lillie Mae Philpot, and Rita Thompson. Our sponsor for this year was Mr. Morgan and our class officers were: Billy Baumann, President, Herbert Nale, Vice-President, Faye Marshall, Secretary, Rita Thompson, Treasurer, Helen Mull, News Reporter. This year was a hard year for everyone ex- cept Bill Blankenbaker, who always had time to play a Joke on someone. However, we had time to enjoy two skating parties with most of us learning to skate the hard way. Little Jackie Short grew up and be- came known as Jack. We wonder if it was because he started going with the girls--or should we just say Marcella. We moved forward into our junior year. Since we had gotten this far up the ladder, we were determined to go on. Lillie Mae Philpot moved away this year and four new members Joined us: Betty McGlothl1n, Carl True, James Wills, and Lowell Bmllington. we chose Mrs. Baker and Mrs. Whiteman as sponsors. This year Billy Fulk served as Presi- dent, Don Roberts, Vice-President, June Rickard, Secretary, Faye Mar- shall, Treasurer, and Joellen Owsley, News Reporter. The sales of ice-cream and cold drinks at noon were taken over by our class. we topped the records of previous years with our sales of magazines from Curtis Publishing Co. Our class play 'Her Emergency Husband', spon- sored by Mrs. Baker and Mrs. Whiteman, broughthforth much laughter and many' compliments from the audience. We-scored another run when Jo- ellen Owsley was elected cheer leader from our class. Our Junior-Sen- lor Reception was held in the Terrace Room at the Kentucky Hotel, Louisville. We entertained with a banquet and party--master ef cere- monies and floor show. Everyone had a grand time. At last, but yet all too soon, that day had come when we enter- ed school as seniors. Thirty-nine members had reached the top and were ready to carry on their work. We chose our jewelry and had our pic- tures taken as a remembrance of our senior days. We took over the pub- lication of 'The Commentn and proceeded to make a yearbook 'The Com- mentator'. Two of the cheer leaders came from our class this year -- Joellen Owsley and June Rickard. We also had several boys who played basketball. The officers chosen to guide our class this year were: Don Roberts, President, Faye Marshall, Vice-President, June Rickard, Trea- surer, Joellen 0wsley,Secretary, and Marie Borders, News Reporter. Our sponsors were Mrs. Baker and Mr. Stevens. As a future reminder of the Class of '48, we have left the school a new score board to be used by future Pekin High School basketball teams. A we have come to the fork in the road where we will all be travel- ing different gaths, but we will long remember the happy hours spent at Pekin High chool. We wish to take this opportunity to express our sincere apprecia- tion to our parents and the faculty who have helped us to attain our goa . Faye Marshall Thelma Durham
