MERRITT LINDSEY Presents UNIOR VARSITY BASKETBALL The Junior Varsity didn't do so well this year as far as games won and lost were concerned. Among their victories with opposing teams were Arlington, New York School for the Deaf and North Tarrytown. The team was spurred on by the scoring ability of Al Strumke, Don Lemalc and Dick Boylan, who were the team's respective high scorers. In the latter part of the season the lead-off squad contained four men who were over six feet two inches in height, which is a valuable asset to any squad. Mr, Lindsey's efforts in training his squad really showed up, in that the play- ers had good team work and never seemed to give up regardless of how the game was going. Although the team didn't win as many games as in preceding years, they still show great promise for the future. The team has had a great deal of experi- ence, with fourteen members of the squad participa- ting in the games. 'gp Mtv t A

GEORGE PETERSON VARSITY BASKETBALL The all green Peekskill Varsity Basketball team out-performed a great many rival veteran teams this year. Led on by the high scoring of Charlie McCor- mack, Charlie Badger, and Nat Ziolkowski, and the cool and even tempered playing of Captain Mike Bottas, the Peekskill Devil team proved itself danger- ous to play and hard to beat, Peekskill seemed to have lost Ossining as an arch rival in basketball as they romped over the Indian team with over twenty-point victories at each meet- ing. The main scores of conflict were when the Devils played the Hendrick Hudson Sailors and the Horse- men of North Tarrytown. The whole Devil Team played a much harder and scrappier ball game than did the Devils of a few years back. Coach George Peterson can well be proud of his efforts and his team this year and can look forward to a good team for a few years to come.
