Beu- The' Girls' Student League, first organized in the Spring of 1938, is sponsored by Miss Baker and con- cerns itself with the interests of the girls in the school. Though all the girls are members, only two repre- sentatives are elected from each homeroom to attend the meetings. These girls report back to the home- room the current projects being discussed. Three major projects of the year were the Big Sister Party, picture taking, and the Vocational Con- ference. Girls' Student League sponsors the photographing of students whose pictures are then sold and used for school records. The Vocational Conference is for all the students, that they may learn about the opportunities their future careers have to offer. Speakers come from many vocations such as nurs- ing, teaching. The Chorus sang a variety of musical selections, including old favorites and Broadway hit tunes, and proved itself capable of presenting fine vocal music. A CAPELLA Front: B. Hadden, I. Kilmer, I. Rear: Mr. Enright, I. Albert, L. Kaplan, K. Pataki, H, Heineman, H. Casparian, C. Williams. One of the more popular musical groups in P. H. S., the A Cappella is directed by Mr. H. Robert Enright. Wearing their choral robes, the members always make a dignified appearance at their various concerts. The group sings with- out accompaniment and its music is of many types. To become a member of this organization, a student must have a pleasing voice and must 72 be able to pass a short vocal test. Because there is a limit to the number of members, there is usually competition for membership. The A Cappella was extremely active this year. lt sang for the Rotary Club, the Peekskill Hospital and Franklin Street School, caroled in the halls ot P. H. S. at Christmas time, and participated in the Ioint Concert in February, in singing assemblies and in the May Music Festival.

Lent, V. Zeoli, R. Finnegan. E. Burns, R. Pelaia, S. Agosta, C. Volkmann. Standing: I. Kiss- For the first time in several years a new coach appeared on the diamond in 1950 for the Red Devils. He is Mr. Le Boeuf, our physics teacher. Mr. Le Boeuf replaced Mr. Devins, who had been coach since the end of the war. The team finished the season with nine wins, six defeats and one tie. The most thrilling of the nine victories was the 5-4 triumph over the Authors of W.I. at Tarrytown. While a steady rain came down, the Devils came from behind to pull the game out of the fire as Mike Naardone clouted a home run and Oscar Iohannes slammed a rousing triple over the center fielder's head to clinch the victory. Corozine, M. Scaramellino. K. Bell, I. Travis, G. Adams. Peekskill High School's 1950 I.V. baseball squad against Ossining High with a score of l-l. Peekskill's had a fair record. They ended the season with six other games were played against St. Ioseph's Home, wins, three defeats and one tie. The Iunior Varsity Hendrick Hudson, North Tarrytown and P.M.A. also had a new coach in Mr. Moser, a former varsity Most of the players on the, Iunior Varsity were shortstop at Gettysburg College.
