The Latin Club, sponsored by Miss Gran- inger, meets bi-monthly to provide the students with an opportunity to learn more about the various phases of the Latin life and language. The students planned many interesting pro- grams for their meetings and included in some of these programs guest speakers and film strips. During American Education Week, this organization presented a Latin exhibit in the library and the second floor corridor. As part of their social activities, the Latin Club held a Christmas and a Valentine party. The officers for this year were Phyllis San- ders, Barbara Morse, and lane Marie Meyers, Consuls: Alvira Volkmann, Quaestor: Rae Schragis, Scriba: Dolores Gambino, Marilyn Poritizky, and Mary Chalumeau, Aediles. ITALIAN CLUB Seated: M. Bottas, I. Acker, Mr. Gagliardi, R. Pelaia, L. DiRubbo. Standing: E. Scalzo, R. Renza, O. Gallucci, D. Annacone, N. Cuomo, L. Sacco, I. Carano, F. Vecchio. E. Scarcia, V. Zeoli, V. Rivers, F. Colacine. The Italian Club is formed each year with the idea of providing its members with inter- esting social projects. The members raise funds for the club by selling candy at the home bas- ketball games and by holding cake sales. The money obtained from these various sources enables the members to visit New York City to view an Italian motion picture. Meetings of the club this year took place every second Wednesday of the month with President Ralph Pelaia presiding. Various top- ics were discussed and occasionally the club had a guest to talk to the members. This club encourages students of the Italian language to become more familiar with the ways and language of this great and ancient nation.

SENIOR The Senior Class held its Prom on Ianuary 27. About sixty-five couples attended. The other- wise barren gym was magically transformed into a Skater's Paradise . The general chairman was Christine Iohn- son. The Decoration Committee was headed by Barbara Field, assisted by Charlene Baxter, Mary Lou Cole, Gerry Roberts, Leona Lautman, lane Ferris, Patricia Cunane, Christine Iohnson, Robert Renza, Patricia Buchanan, Charles Portes, Charles E. Volkmann, William Peterson, Thomas Murphy, Bernard Yudowitz, Bucky Fin- negan, Iohn Moynahan, Terry Kessler, Muriel Ascheim. The Ticket Committee Chairman was Patricia Buchanan, and her assistants were Shirley Ganeles, John Moynahan, Terry Kessler, Marilyn Rapping, Georgia Voonasis, Muriel Ascheim. The Refreshments Committee was composed of Terry Thornell, Iulianna Stileno- vich, Loretta Kekacs, William Peterson and Charles Volkmann were co-chairmen of the Orchestra Committee. The entrance to the gym was cardboard skates painted in silver and black. As the couples walked over a bridge into the ballroom, they made wishes near a Wishing Wel1 . The romantic scene was made even more so when Larry Burns played swaying waltzes and lively fox-trots. The receiving line consisted of the class officers and the class sponsors. During the evening, refreshments were enjoyed by all. PROM

Hrouda, V. Klepper, G. Scivoletto. Baby Sitters Club is a a group of girls who are interested in minding children. All members are requested to secure a doctor's certificate assuring good health. A character reference is also needed for mem- bership. The girls are trained in the effective and SPEECH safe essentials of baby-sitting by their advisor, Mrs. Hourihan. It is the aim of the club to find as many jobs for the members as possible, at fair wages and hours. Roberta Fullenweider is president, Marilyn Mohlsick is secretary, and Elizabeth Hayes is treasurer. CLUB Front: C. Affron. I. Carter, H. Heineman. I. Graulich, V. Tiso, W. Amory. Standing: I. Marer, I. Kesselman, B. Yudowitz, E. Markham, Miss Holmes, R. Fullenweider, A. Dinnerstein, S. Citron, D. Silver, R. Eisenberg. Speech Club, under the direction of Miss Holmes, meets every Thursday evening. Unique readings, interpretations and discussions are the highlights of these gatherings. They all cen- ter around the main purpose of Speech Club which is to improve individual speech, so that its members may be fully prepared to serve the school and community. Various fund raising activities of Speech Club include a series of successful cake sales, and the sponsoring of movies. Club officers are: President, Iohn Graulich: Vice-President, William Amory: Secretary, Vir- ginia Tiso: Treasurer, Harry Heinemang Attend- ance-taker, Iacqueline Carter.
