Mr. Whitley blushes as he gets a little smack on the cheek from Shirley Cothran Barrett, Miss America of 1975. cgufieftdnfencfenf Mr. Ray Whitley, Superintendent of Pecos Schools since 1945, has contributed much to the quality and growth of the Pecos-Barstow-Toyah School System. He has worked diligently with the School Board in setting and achieving goals which improve our schools. Mr. Whitley began his career in 1935 as a football coach for the old Pecos Junior High. ln 1938, he took the position of principal of the Pecos Elementary School. He reached his present position as Superintendent in 1945. Mr. Whitley is active in many community activities as well as many school organizations. I-Ie is a member of TSTA, TASA, AASA, Rotary Club, and the Chamber of Commerce. He obtained his Master of Arts Degree from Southwest Texas Teachers College in San Marcos. He attends the First Presbyterian Church. Mr. Whitley and his wife, Maurene, have one daughter, Sue Raye Johnson. Sue Raye attended Pecos High School and is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin. She now teaches at Spring ' Branch, a suburb of Houston. Mr. Whitley takes a little break at the Exes Tea after a hard days work.

Oqssiskarzf Auupszinferzcfsnf Mr. C. W. Wright is serving his eighth year as Assistant Superintendent of the Pecos School System. Mr. Wright is a member of TSTA and TASA. He is a graduate of Texas Tech University where he received his Master's Degree. Mr. Wright and his wife , Pauline, have one daughter, Mrs. Terry Stretch. The Wright's reside at 621 South Plum. They are members of the First Presbyterian Church. Business Jlffanagaz Mr. Lewis Cowart has served as Business Manager of Pecos Schools for twenty-seven years. He has done an outstanding job . Mr. Cowart is a member of TSTA and the Pecos Rotary Club. He attended North Texas State University where he received his BBA . Mr. Cowart resides at 1518 Morris with his wife, lone . The Cowart's attend the First Baptist Church. They have three married children--Mike, Linda, and Carol.
