School board members greet teachers at banquet. S UPERIN TENDEN T Mr. Ray Whitley, Superinten- dent ofPecos schools for twenty- eight years, has watched and aided the growth of Pecos High School, working in co-operation with mem- bers of School Board and faculty. He has greatly influenced many lives through his concern and dili- gence. Mr. Whitley received the Mas- ter of Arts degree from Southwest Texas State Teachers' College in San Marcos, Texas. Mr. and Mrs. Whitley and their daughter, Sue Raye, have lived in Pecos for a number of years. Sue Raye is now attending the Univer- sity of Texas at Austin. They are willing participants in community affairs and belong to the Presby- terian Church. Mr. Whitley is also an active member of the Rotary Club. This is a glimpse at the unfinished vocational school building as it looked in early October.

BUARD OF EDUCA TIO CARRIES OUT EW BUILDING PROGRAM Progressive community leaders comprise the Board of Education, who has executed an important new building program at Pecos High School. This program is the construction of Vocational schools that include home eco- nomics, auto mechanics, building trades, D.E., V.O.E., and many others. Pecos High School can be proud of these men who direct our school system and devote a great Part of their time and effort to serving their community in this Way. james B. ASSISTANT SUPERIN TEN- DEN T Mr. C. W. Wright is in his fourth year as Assistant Superintendent of the Pecos-Barstow Independent Schools. He received his Master's degree from Texas Tech University. Mr. Wright is active in many school- related and civic organizations. He is a member of TSTA, TASA, Bar- stow Lions, and the Presbyterian Church, He and his wife, Pauline, have one daughter, Mrs, Terry Stretch. BUSINESS MANAGER Mr. Lewis Cowart has served as Business Manager of the Pecos Schools for twenty-three years. He holds a BBA degree from North Texas State and belongs to TSTA, the First Baptist Church, and the Pecos Rotary Club. He and his wife, Ione, have three children, two of whom are married. The youngest, Carol, is a 1970 graduate of Pecos High School and is now attending San Angelo State Univer- sity.
