And the Ritual Begins The day officially begins on the Pearl River campus with the opening of the cafeteria for breakfast. The morning trip from dormi- tory to cafeteria to post office and on to class has become almost a ritual at PRC. The outcome of an entire day can be deter- mined before 8:00 a.m. The breakfast menu, whether or not Mom remembered to send the weekly allowance, and the weather all decide if it will be a good day or a bad day. Although very few dormitory students rise early enough to ever see a sunrise, many students who commute must get up as early as 5:00 a.m. to catch the bus. It ' s a source of amazement to many students who stay on campus that the commuting students are always so wide awake when they get off the bus. X 1 3

SUNRISE SUNSET 9 ' Each day at Pearl River Junior College begins with a sunrise; ends with a sun- set, and contains a thousand memories — a million precious moments in between. As we, the students of Pearl River, look back over the year 1974-75, many mem- ories flood our minds. The big events of the year stand out, but the little things, the day to day activities, also have a place in the pathways that our thoughts take as we engage in retrospect. Who can forget the many little moments that compose daily life at the River? Leaving the pleasures of quiet dreaming to get ready for a day of classes starts the morning for many PRC students. Going about the many little tasks that insure a full day ' s worth of presentable beauty, wondering if remaining in bed is worth one more cut in first period, trivial things that hold monumental impor- tance are all part of living in the dormi- tory. 2

Early Morning Hours The early morning hours at PRC are filled with many activities designed simply to brace the student for a long day. The student center is a focal point of activ- ity as both dormitory and commuting stu- dents come together to prepare themselves for classes with a stiff shot of hot coffee. The showers in the dormitory are usually going full blast at this time. With a large number of young people trying to share a small number of showers, havoc is sure to reign. Dormitory showers on the Pearl River campus are the breeding grounds for most of the pranks pulled on campus.
