With their first series of plays the Wildcats showed their determination to win. On a fourth down gamble Wildcat Kim Sones skampered 69 yards to set the score up and Willie Heidleberg carried the ball over from the 5 yard line, and Glennis Penton kicked the PAT to put the Wildcats in command of the game. With a quick succession of plays the Wildcats broke the game wide open in the second quarter. First Willie Heidleberg scored, this time with a short screen pass from Steve Worrell; Heidleberg weaved his way through the Bulldog secondary from midfield for the score. The point after by Penton was missed and the Wildcats led 13-0. The Bulldogs under hot pursuit fumbled the kick-off on the 19 yard line as Wildcat George Peyton scooped it in for PRC. Steve Worrell started the drive going with a pass to Jim Boone and a pass interference call against the Bull- dogs brought the ball to the 1 yard line. The next play, John Pilot Lee carried over for the score. Penton kicked the point after. The Wildcats gambled again, this time on a fourth down play. Kim Sones carried it for two yards and first down. The next play Terry Skantz hit Richard Brantley with a 52 yard scoring bomb and the half ended 33-0. The second half seemed a rerun for the Wildcats who covered over 307 yards on the ground and 201 in the air against a weak Holmes defense. The only third quarter score came when Dennis Wilson hit Sylvan Ladner for the score and the PAT by Penton was good. The last score of the game was worth waiting. Heidle- berg from 16 yards out skampered to the left side. Re- versing the field, Willie tested the right side and fought his way up field for the score. Penton kicked his sixth point after for the evening and the Wildcats clinched the State Championship 54-0. River Clips Northwest 27—20 P.R.C. First Downs 14 Yds. Rush 280 Yds. Pass 87 Yds.
