P. Fornea. Formerly our vice president and high school principal, he is now a captain in the Thirty-First Division of the United States Army. Our National Guard unit, which was headed by Cap- tain Fornea and included many of our students and three other teachers, was activated on January 16, 1951. CAPTAIN T. P. McLENDON President President ' s Message Again we approach that period of the year when our thoughts begin to turn to the events of the past and to a projection of events to cone. It has always been the policy of the school to render every service possible toward giving a thorough and concise picture of the life and activities of this institution through the medium of the Wildcat. It seems as if a yearbook at this time would mean ■ore to college students than it has meant for many years. Many of our young people have gone to the Armed Service, and we are especially interested in keeping pleasant reminders of our association with them in school Annual staffs of the past have dedicated themselves to the proposition of an unbiased, yet composite, picture of the whole. I am sure that the efforts of an energetic group of young men and women who have dedicated their services to the 1950-51 yearbook will be richly rewarded. The programs are varied and often consist of inspirational messages brought by visiting speakers. DEBATERS Jane Ann Evans, Ben Goodwin, Chr. Culley Lee, Tiny Renaker. and Christine Ladner. DEBATING CLUB The Pearl River College Debaters and their sponsor. Miss Eunice McSwain, have an outstanding record to uphold as they go into the annual competitive debates among the Junior College this year. In 1949. the affirmative team from Pearl River won the Junior College championship. In 1950. the first year that a school was judged on points and required to win the entire debate by total points to be declared cham- pions. Pearl River again came out on top. The 1951 debaters. Ben Goodwin and Jane Ann Evans on the affirmative side, Christine Ladner and Tiny Renaker on the negative side: have just won their first round by winning the triangular meet against Jones County and East Central Junior Colleges. Richards, Teel, and Faulkner scored for the Wildcats. Teel also converted for two extra points. PRC 6— SUMMIT 6 The Wildcats came back in the next week to tie a strong Sum- mit team. Jarrel scored for the team. PRC 27— HINDS 6 For the first time in nine years a spirited Wildcat team was able to take a game from the Hinds Eagles. In this decisive vic- tory Richards scored three times and Jarrel scored once. PRC 20— SCOOBA 28 The Wildcats were again on the short end of the score in the game against a heavy and experienced Scooba eleven. Richards scored twice and Mason once for the Wildcats. Daniels con- verted for two extra points. PRC 34 — WESSON 0 The Wildcats came back fighting the next week and took a game Wesson team in a show of power. Mason. Jarrel scored for the PRC eleven and Daniels converted. PRC 33 — PERKINSTON 0 The Wildcats came back on the victory side with a smashing victory over their arch rivals, Perkinston. Richards was in- jured in the game and lost to the squad the remainder of the year. Faulkner, Teel, Mason and Salloum scored with Dan- iels converting for 3. PRC 34 -MOORHEAD 6 The Wildcats took a Homecoming victory from Moorhead Trojans in their last game on the home field. Faulkner. Salloum. Lee, and Mason scored with Daniels adding four conversions. PRC 20— DECATUR 0 Another arch rival was defeated when the Wildcats handed the heavily favored Decatur squad a most decisive defeat. Teel, Salloum. and Mason tallied for the Wildcats and Daniels con- verted for two. PRC 34—ELLISVILLE 13 The Wildcats won their second victory at Picayune Memorial Bowl when they defeated the Ellisville Bobcats. WILDCATS WIN 12— LOSE 6 Thus far in the 1950-51 season, the Pearl River Wildcats have won a total of twelve basketball games hile dropping six. The quintet has five games to play before enter- ing the Junior College tournament to be held in Decatur on March 1. 2. and 3. The Wildcats suffered a great loss in December when Emerson Ladner, high scoring for- ward, was called into active service with the Mississippi National Guard. They now have eight wins against six losses and the have two more games, Decatur and Hinds, to play before entering the Girls ' Junior College Basketball Tournament to be played at Summit on February 22. 23, and 24. Pacing the forwards for the PRC lassies this year have been twins Jean and Jane Pigott and Jenny Leath. Guards on the starting six have been Ivell Lott, Jo Beth Ty- ner. and Ruby Broom. Tyner has served as captain for the team this year. Jean Pigott is leading scorer for the team with 235 points while Jane has 220 points for this part of the season.
