Pre ident's Message Q O PRESIDENT R. D. MCLENDON As the 35th annual session of Pearl River Junior College approaches the close it seems fitting that we, the present faculty and student body, express our appreciation to those of the past who have contributed to the building and orga- nization cf this institution of learning in South Mississippi. Traditions are inspiringg the halo of glory of the past serves as a beacon of light today. The desire of everyone is for Pearl River Junior College to serve the people of this section as it has in the past. l946-47 has been a great year. The magnitude of the dislocatino suffered during the war was enough to discour- age the weak. However, the speed of reconversion is a tribute to the American people and its schools. Every great school or event is measured by the type and quality of leadership that guides the destinies of that orga- nization, Individual students, both present and past, are ambassadors of good will. For this institution to grow, all must cooperate in expanding this program of service. Pearl River College is looking into the future-seeking ways and means of greater service. The pages of this pub- lic-ation by the Cadet Staff portray the present. Who can PACE roun depict the future? A The future of this institution is closely allied with those who are to follow those who have gone before. Pearl River College is happy that it has been able to make some contri- bution toward the realization of that future goal-normalcy. The veterans of World War II have been a stabilizing force on our campus. Thus much joy and pleasure has been ours due to the close and intimate association of faculty and stu- dents that can be realized only in small schools such as ours. The Cadet Staff is to be congratulated for its work in compiling a resume of the college life and activities of to- day. This work should be a treasure for us of the present, and I feel sure we can join the staff in sending greetings and best wishes to students of the past and future. To the stu- dents of the past-may these views bring pleasant memo- ries. To the students of the future-may this work of the staff bring to you an opportunity to view the tangible assets of our school. I trust that the future may bring past, pres- ent, and future students together to enjoy those intangibles of Pearl River College which are peace, lgrowthfhappiness, and brotherly love. Tll CADET
