library Club The Library Club has a membership of three: Ann Davis Jayne Johnston Janice Davis These girls were chosen because they have free periods at suitable hours; they are willing to take directions and follow them; they have a sense of order- liness; they have good personal qualifications such as honesty, reliability and the ability to work with others. This is a civic responsibility where personal service to the school is stressed. Sponsor Mrs. Maude P. Miller Pearisburg High School Library

Maud The Giles County Symphonic Band is composed of high school students from Pearisburg and Narrows, who meet the necessary requirements for membership. This year the band is very fortunate to have as directors, Mr. Richard W. Beasley and Mr. J oseph Gollehon. In March, 195 3 at the District Six Music Festival the band was given a Superior rating in difficult Grade Five music by each of the three judges. This was the highest rating received by any band at the Festival. The highlight of the year was the trip to the Annual Lions’ Club Convention in Chicago, Illinois, where the band participated in the Grand Parade and was honored with a seventh place rating.
