Senior Class History Twelve years ago on a bright sunny day the largest group of students ever to enter Pearisburg Grade School marched through the doors. Out of this large group starting to school that year, only 23 remain to graduate. However , during our elementary days many others came from many parts of the county to join this class of Nineteen Hundred and Fifty Four. In the fall of 1949 a miraculous event occured. The doors of old P. H. S. found this memorable class entering them . The school was vastly changed by this invasion, for never before had such a large number ascended on the school at one time. After that trying year of going through wrong doors, getting to class late and causing a general distrubance all around, this timid bunch of people emerged as F resh- men. Even in the Freshman year this class was very active in the varsity sports. The next year we were on our way up in the world we were Sophmores. In the true sense of the word, and as such were dispersed throughout all school activities. 1 952- 5 3 found most of the rough corners polished off, and as Juniors, the thunder- ing herd of 49 ' ers were becoming more civilized in perparation for the final peak. That was the year when it became evident that the Administration of the school was actually in the hands of this outstanding class. We made a five year contract with a new company for clas s rings. In getting ready for the Junior and Senior Prom, which is the big event of the school year, we had a Bake Sale, sold magazines and presented a Variety Show, to raise money. As Juniors, this class added much to the school. In the fall of 1 953 this class reached its Zenith when it lent its presence to the school as Seniors. The year thus far has been full of excitement and promises to be even more exciting as we order our invitations, hear speakers on behalf of various colleges, and enjoy to the greatest extent the dignity of being a Senior.
