We open the season under the lights at Harlandale stadium. Edgewood fought gamely, but we were superior in weight, experience, and power. They had the prettiest cheer-leaders. VC'om-J Whit a Game! AUSTIN TRIP The entire cadet corps journeys to the St. Edwards game in special buses and sees the sights in Austin—the State Capitol, University of Texas campus, etc., and then the game. PEACOCK 20 — ST. EDWARDS 6 St. Eds. weren't ready for this one, but we were. The team really clicked throughout, and Spivey and Gill covered a lot of acreage in tallying up our scores. PEACOCK 7 — SAN MARCOS ACADEMY 0 Another toughie, but we were right! The whole battalion accompanied the team to San Marcos. Maybe the twelfth man really helped hold them this time, for the Cubs were hard to stop. PEACOCK vs. T.M.l. If This last game of the season was really something! We had to win in order to tie with Central for the championship. So, we got ready for our ancient rivals. A real pep-rally and bonfire was held the night before the game. PEACOCK vs. T.M.I. Here we go. The march to victory is on! We drive, smash, run, pass, and gain a total of 318 yards to the Panthers’ 24 yards. Spivey, Gill, Cullins, and Ellington plus thirty odd other Cadets push over six touchdowms in four quarters of play. PEACOCK 27 — T.M.I. 0 Coach Collins tells us what’s what just before the second half starts. Spivey makes a place kick for that extra point after touchdown. Here we go for a fast round-end play. We spread out wide for a punt, or was it a for- ward pass? And another try is made good later. It’s all over! Teams gang up for a final cheer.
