ai Q7ia yyu€ ' 6 t zDa As I entered the all-too-familiar Cafeteria door, a new aronna captured my senses. After despairingly looking at the long line, I anxiously peeked down the banquet table to see what was on the menu. First, there was a tray of pickles, broccoli, cauliflower, olives and tomatoes Cand they were fresh, tool J. Then there were steaming dishes of baked potatoes that would actually melt butter CI mean margarine. 3 Beside the potatoes sat a mound of green beans that hopefully wouldn ' t taste like a tin can, and leavened rolls that could almost match Mom ' s homemade. The climiax of the dinner was the turkey and dressing entree, which v as excellent. The dessert table was a popular meeting place, and more than one girl was seen going back for seconds Cand thirds?). Like the other Peace pilgrims around me, I A as thankful and ready for this bounteous feast. F l m vJ I 0) r m T- m Sl ' ?p W n P u H B c H V ■ Q) H ■- Ci ' 1 ■ £ • ' H -- j T 1 C . Q O aucA a a Here at Peace College, we get a real bargain: an education plus a taste of culture [even if that taste Is forced on us sometinnes]. There are many activities made available to us. from dramatic plays to economics lectures. The play Waiting for Godot was one such activity that entertained Peace students. During this play we saw the drama department at their best. We got to see vivacious Beth Harris Cdressed in fishnet hose, hot pants, and uncontrollable blonde wig and fluorescent lipstick) crack a whip and drag Suzanne Cannon around on a leash. As it turned out, everyone was still waiting for Godot when the play is over Cand personally. I ' m still looking for that guy!) In the meantime we sacrifice our study hours Cwhich I ' m sure we were going to use!) by attending a series of lectures and art events. One concert included a combination of flute, viola, and harp. Another enjoyable concert featured a solo-pianist performance. This turned out to be more interesting than we had ever imagined. Let me explain; The pianist that entertained us was from Chapel Hill. He got in his car at the appointed time and drove speedily toward Raleigh to give his performance. Upon his arrival at Peace College, he realized that his tuxedo jacket was hanging on the closet door in his bedroom. With something close to hysteria he began to pace and shake, for everyone knows you can ' t play the piano without a tuxedo jacket! But B: DO came and all was well; for Mr. Smith, our Superman in B minor, allowed the visiting entertainer to wear his own jacket. Perhaps one of the mast prestigious events taking place on our campus was the lecture given by Mr. George Guilder. On that night Peace students and Raleigh citizens gathered in the gym and heard a lecture on the nature of supply-side econo- mics. Guilder was certainly an impressive man Cor at least some thought he was! He used a lot of big words!) When we left, we were all much xA iser in the area of economics CMr. Killebrew made me say that!). ..S i-;Vi : 1 . ' .-:y --l .- r.- a- i?WTS7.ffi ir '
