d (family. Oa i . Mom and Dad arrive bright and early on Saturday morning. Dad gets out of the can, tucks in his shirt, adjusts his tie, then puts his hands in his pockets and tries to act comfortable. Mom steps out of the car, arranges her hair, and then gives you a big, juicy kiss on the cheek. This is the usual procedure for the beginning of Parent Weekend, and the 1981 gathering was no different. The weekend officially began at 1 O: DD on Saturday morning, and at the sound of the bell the parents were off on a high-speed race to do everything on the list. The first activity was the meeting of mini-classes. Here the parents were told how well them daughter was doing in all her studies. [But why did Suzy get four deficiencies?) Lunch was served following the classes, and one mother was heard to say, So, why do you never eat in the caf arena? Next on the agenda was free period, and every Peace girl knows that that means shopping! Two hundred weary parents were dragged around Raleigh by their clothing-starved daughters. One father was heard to say, That surely was an expensive free period! Pan ent ' s Weekend was certainly not without entertainment. For the sport ' s-minded there was crab soccer, and for the less active people there was a variety show. Dinner was served at 5; DO, and the entire evening was topped off by a Make Your Own Sundae party in Belk lounge. By 10:00 the only sound heard from the visiting parents was plop plop, fizz fizz, oh what a relief it is! Parent ' s Weekend was concluded on Sunday morning with a lovely Chapel service. The entire event was a success!

TSP leQ ia WlAy i Peace College always seems to be on the go. and this past year was no exception, The activity calendar was full! One of the biggest events of the year was the North Carolina State Fain. For two weeks everyone reverted to hen childhood and had great fun riding the merry-go- round and pulling the prize-winning bull ' s tail. The weather was simply perfect for a fair! It was just cool enough so that everyone had an excuse to wear her new winter clothes. The fairground was dusty and smelled of livestock, but boy, were there a lot of w ell-dressed Peace girls! The fair had a little bit of something for everybody. There were plenty of rides and game booths, but it appeared that the major attraction for Peace girls was the dunking booth. When asked why, one girl replied, Well, I can ' t very well throw a baseball at my Economic ' s teacher, so I come down here and pretend that he ' s the one in the booth instead of the clown! Another activity that was a lot of fun was the Dating Game. The event was quite entertaining, and the contestants were real characters. One budding Donny Osmond refused to quit singing even when asked, and another naughty contestant asked some silly question about singing in the shov er. For enter- tainment between games the audience was subjected to a number of commercials. One in particular was the Fruit of the Loom advertisement which was so good that it made every- one want to buy Hanes. The State-Carolina dinner was a whole lot of fun, but boy was it ro A dy! Just the thought of it made Mr. Martin Calias. Mr. Cafeterial chew his gum harder in anticipation of the event. The Wolfpack mascot made his appearance and brought cheers from loyal State fans. The Carolina Ram was cordially invited to attend, but refused due to eweion rules. Each side had its share of off-colored chants and cheers, and more than one person left the cafeteria with a red face. ■I r yws l p y : yj c, m K ftz y mmAp W i V M ; i 22 2 B 4
