ia6 icai QyVo Peace College has an excellent group of students in its Fine Arts Program, and during the Summer of 1 9S1 Peace got to share some of this fine talent with Europe. Mr. Smith. Miss Vance, Mrs Fitz-Simmons, and Mrs. Black led a group of art and music students on a tour through several European countries ranging from Belgium to Luxenburg. The trip sounds like a lot of fun, but one tourist quickly pointed out that the main purposes of the tour were study and first-hand observation of European art and music. So, for the nnost part, the majority of the students ' time was spent fulfilling the educational requirements of the tour. The art students spent nnany hours in museums, and had to keep a daily journal. The music students worked equally as hard by giving concerts throughout Europe. Of course, all their work was not done in vain; each student received a class credit, not to mention the pure enjoyment of the trip. Everyone had a great time and left Europe with a sense of fulfillment. Europe will certainly never forget the summer that Peace came to visit; the girls left a lasting impression on everyone, especially the hotel managers who began to notice that their towel supplies were running low and that their electricity bill was incredible. Europe was not the only place that got to enjoy the skills of Peace ' s music students. The college itself got to see its girls perform by way of stu- dent recitals. Another event related to Fine Art was the visit to Peace by the St. Augustine dancers. They performed a series of modern dances ranging from a lovely duet to a delightful number from the Broadway hit The Wiz. All of the dancers were im- pressive, and their per- formance was full of variety and originality. Their show was a great source of enter- tainment to all. (D ..:.
