change to do well and to reach for their highest goals. The best part of the ceremony was seeing Dr. Sturdivant ' s glow-ln- the-dark robe! Mini classes began almost immediately, and all the girls got to view their teachers for the first time. Immediately they be- gan to formulate opinions a- bout each of their instructors, but some of the freshmen re- quested that some of their re- marks remain secret. At this time of the year everyone gives the red carpet treatment. Everyone does his best to make students feel at home and com- fortable with their new living arrangements. Q W ieJ a i ( niyetarher The President ' s Reception is always a memorable event for a Peace College freshmen. Who could ever forget having to squeeze into those uncomfortable shoes and go to the cafeteria to get acquainted with the staff? The reception was supposed to be a dignified, formal affair, but somehow It more resembled an affair of nerves, as two-hundred and fifty anxious girls tried to answer questions, balance plates filled with finger foods, and look pretty all at the same time. Twenty minutes after the start of the reception the sound of growling stomaches could be heard all across the cafeteria because, though everyone was hungry, all were too nervous to eat any of the foods offered at the banquet table. Always, one of the best parts of the reception is stepping back and observing the action going on all around. It is hilarious to watch all the students trying to act as if they know A hat they are doing. By nine o ' clock everyone is tired of trying to be chic, and the main point of concentration is the strawberry seed stuck between the two front teeth. All of the staff has welcomed you to Peace College, and now the only thing left to do is to head back to the dorm for a nightcap made up of a Domino ' s pizza and a Coke. The next morning ball gowns are packed away and jeans are donned for class.
