change to do well and to reach for their highest goals. The best part of the ceremony was seeing Dr. Sturdivant ' s glow-ln- the-dark robe! Mini classes began almost immediately, and all the girls got to view their teachers for the first time. Immediately they be- gan to formulate opinions a- bout each of their instructors, but some of the freshmen re- quested that some of their re- marks remain secret. At this time of the year everyone gives the red carpet treatment. Everyone does his best to make students feel at home and com- fortable with their new living arrangements. tt(nQ Qyt QJaaetn ' 9 T ' le Orientation Day officially began at 9: OO a.m. of August 24, 1 9B 1 ; ironically, about this same time across to A n, the Raleigh Police Department was receiving a series of concerned calls about the circus that was coming down Peace Street. Fears were quickly calmed when it was discovered that the circus was only the new Peace freshmen comiing into town. Moving in was quite an experience, especially for the poor sophomores w ho volunteered to help out! One weary sophomiore was heard to say, I can understand the trunk, and the five suitcases, and even the exer-cycle, but the kitchen sink? The next phase in the orientation cycle was meeting the roommate. This is always exciting for about the first five minutes; then true personalities surface, and all across the campus can be heard, I want the top bunk! That ' s my pink and green towel, not yours! and This just ain ' t gonna work! Usually, by nightfall most roommates have found something in common, and for the time being all is quiet on the western front. The highlight of orientation was the Convocation.
