One of the five main purposes of Peace College is to provide a faculty of outstanding academic ability. Every professor at Peace is certainly worthy of this description. The faculty make special efforts to give their students a quality education, answer any questions that a student may have, make the classroom experience an interesting one, and show an honest, sincere interest in each student as an individual. There are very few schools that provide such close interaction between teacher and student. We are equally as fortunate to have administrators who stay in contact with the students. Despite their demanding, important schedules, every administrator at Peace College has time for a friendly smile and a warm hello in the hall. Peace College is certainly unique in the fact that even our college president takes the time to learn the students ' names and faces. The staff at Peace College are invaluable for the care and devotion they show in their work. Many of the staff members work long, hard hours in order to provide the appearance and atmosphere that make Peace special. For his her individual and all-important contribution to the school and the students, each person who strives to make Peace a better school every day deserves this thank-you note. I ' ? Those of us who have shared the past two years on campus with Sarah are well aware of her sincerity and the warm glow of friendship that she offers to everyone. Her excellent academic record includes such honors as Who ' s Who in American Junior Colleges, the Dean ' s List, Phi Theta Kappa, PSCA president, and 1978-1979 marshal. Her involvement in campus activities ranging from intramurals to student government make Sarah a vital part of Peace. While many girls are still asleep on Tuesday mornings at 9:45, the Student Government room is wide awake. Buzzing, laughing sophomores and freshmen and a very wise Dean of Students begin to settle down to their weekly duty. These people have assigned to them one of the hardest tasks imaginable: to make each girl on the Peace College campus a happy student. Obviously, this task is impossible, for no one is happy all the time! However, the duty of the Peace Student Government Association is to trv. PSGA works hard to provide the variety of activities which Peace students are offered. PSGA tries to promote class spirit, carry out student government affairs, provide entertainment of all kinds, and build bonds of love and happiness. Peace is a learning and growing experience. The Peace Student Christian Association works to provide an atmosphere of unity and fellowship for all those who seek it on campus. There are many opportunities to meet new friends, worship with them, and share fellowship with them. PSCA helps to form bonds of love which last beyond graduation in May. Some of PSCA ' s functions include the Student-Faculty Picnic, the Little Sister Picnic, and Peanut Week. PSCA also provides special services during the year such as Thanksgiving communion and Holy Week Service before Easter. Below: Matilda McCullough, President. 77 te I PSRA The Peace Student Recreation Association is a unique organization in that, while it certainly promotes physical fitness and recreation, it encourages everyone in the school to participate in the year-round activities that it offers. Athletes and non-athletes alike are invited to come together for a set of tennis, a game of badminton, or even a quiet game of spades. These intramurals serve as one way for students and faculty to relax and share some good times. The Powder Puff Football Came held between the sophomores and freshmen is an annual event. ife a l| iii iti iiMi ii ' i Honor Court lust the mention of the words Honor Court causes the majority of us to shift in our seats. But when we come to realize that the Honor System is the basic foundation of Peace, we learn to respect its purpose rather than to fear it. Penny Spangler, president of the Honor Court, believes that when students abuse honor they let down their classmates, administrators, parents, and their Supreme Being. The purpose of Honor Court is not to judge the actions of others, but to understand them. And through this we become more aware of ourselves and of one another. From the day that we all arrived as wide-eyed freshmen, our R.A. ' s were on hand to reassure us that all this craziness would soon seem like home. Throughout our two years at Peace, the R.A. ' s continue to keep (js informed of everything Resident Assistants that happens on campus. They always seem to know the answers to all our questions and help to keep the lines of communication between administration and students flowing smoothly. They are a great bunch of girls who care a lot about their fellow students. And in turn we love them. I wbIp ' . , it -«r?s: Non-Residents The non-residents may not live on the Peace campus, but Peace would certainly be at a loss without them. These girls are an integral part of all the activities at Peace, both academic and extracurricular. They deserve a special thanks for the beautiful flowers that they purchase for the chapel every year. They share good times, a lot of laughter, and even an occasional bake sale in the non-resident lounge. The non-residents have a special picnic together at the end of the year. Those who have had the opportunity to work on a newspaper staff know the various trials and tribulations that come with the |ob — thinking up and writing stories, working on layouts until the wee hours of the night, thinking up headlines and cutlines — it can be a lot of work! But it is that sense of accomplishment, when the papers have been distributed and there is time to sit back and go over it, that makes all the effort more than worthwhile. Featuring poetry, short stories, essays, and photography, the Prism staff is bound by a love for the art of self-expression. Our goal is to comprehend the power of thought in a paper reflection for the pleasure of others, and, in the attempt to achieve this goal, all interested students are encouraged to participate. Yet even in this short space of time we have shared, learned, and grown together. We have experienced and encouraged each others ' special talents. We have learned to depend on each other in ways that will make us smile at the memory for years to come. On those cold winter mornings when we slept through an 8:1 5, there was always a friend to lend us the class notes. When we endlessly searched through transfer Melody Wood catalogues wondering just what was to become of us after Peace, a roommate was always there to listen. Capturing the spirit of Peace College in words and pictures has been a challenge to the Lotus staff.
