Ecclesiastes 3: 1-H a tirae for Fun 17 Freshmen Orientation TF a time for new life. August 22, 1976 brought the beginning of a new Hfe for over 300 freshmen entering as the Class of 1978. It was a time for sad goodbyes, tears, buying books, excited and nervous freshmen, tired sophomores, and, the most fun of all, the annual Welcome to Peace fake fire drill. Each year during Freshman Orientation, the President ' s Reception is held so that the Presi- dent can greet each freshman personally. Many sophomores are also on hand, for they re- member how much fun the President ' s Recep- tion was the year before, as well as how delici- ous the food was. Punch and hot hors d ' oeuvres are consumed by the pound. Many faculty members also attend, giving the fresh- men a chance to meet them, while the sopho- mores renew their friendships with former pro- fessors. 20 Cider House 21 •K lrlB Beanie Week a time for green and white beanies. Beanie Week is a time for fun for all here at Peace. Although this year ' s Beanie Week got a bit rowdy and rough, and a bit costly for some, for the most part, freshmen agreed that it was fun and that they could not wait until next year ' s Beanie Week when they would be sophomores and wel- come the freshmen to Peace. By taking advantage of the many activities and opportunities provided by the Peace Student Government Association for every individual to fulfill her own interests, she can make her years at Peace more rewarding and more memorable. Putting on a skit for a freshman assembly, working with your hall on the Halloween Carnival, laughing at your friends in the Dating Game, striving to win Stunt Night — this is the PSGA. This is the special atmosphere that makes us a Peace family. It ' s sharing your time in welcoming freshmen in the Little Sister Program and being their first friend; it ' s being devoted to others and show- ing that you care through the Thanksgiving drive and Volunteer Services; it ' s discovering the perfect love of God as you participate in the Communion Services and Religious En- richment Week. This system, based on the Honor Code and the Campus Code, helps us to maintain a sense of mutual trust and respect on our campus. Through each individual ' s honesty and personal integrity, the success of our commu- nity depends upon the participation of each stu- dent. Some of the activities in- clude intramural volleyball, basketball, ten- nis, archery. Play Day, and Powder Puff Football. Through the development of the programs, the Recreation Association hopes to bring all students closer to the goal of satis- fying recreation for all students. A sound in- tramural program should assist us in our search for relevancy in life today. By a stu- dent ' s particiaption in recreational activities, she can take part in activities which may give meaning to her life and offer her a new feel- ing of closeness and enjoyment in her life at Peace. Liz ' s ac- complishments at Peace have been many, and she will be re- membered for these, but she will also be remembered in terms of the friendships she has made. A person who always wears a smile, is always willing to understand, and is never too busy to stop and listen. As a leader, she has shown true dedi- cation; when she says she will do something, it will be done. In her, we have found the meaning of the word friend. This year, that someone is Miss Nora Lynn Finch. And very special she is. Miss Finch helped bring national recognition to our school as she coached our Green Giant teams from the past three years to the AIAW National Junior College Tournament. More impor- tantly though, Miss Finch helps students here at Peace everyday. She believes that it takes sunshine and rain to make a rainbow, and this is evident in her lifestyle.
