OF 193 SENIOR CLASS • Barbara Bloxam Raleigh, N. C. Sigma Phi Kappa; Current Events Club, ' 37 ' Dramatics, ' 37, ' 38; Snapshot Editor of LOTUS ' ' 38. From her pert httle head to unbeUevably tiny toes, Barbara is a capable, conscientious girl with a sunny pleasant manner and a cheery smile for all. She ' s gay and debonair, but above all else sincere. These fine qualities have made a host of friends for Barbara. Betty Brown Raleigh, N. C. Pi Theta Mu; Dramatic Club, ' 37. Small, dark, and brown-eyed — she ' s enough to keep any boss-man from concentrating. Her cheery Good mornings add sunshine to the gloomiest day, even those on which we have shorthand tests! She ' s an excellent co-worker both at school and in social activities. We only hope that Betty will do as well in the future as she has done in her years at Peace — and we feel sure she will. 19

THE LOTUS SENIOR CLASS • Ruth Mclver Barringer Carthage, N. C. Pi Theta Mu; Current Events Club, ' 37. Pug-nosed, golden-haired, small and full of pep — that ' s Ruth. She ' s popular with both day and boarding students and no one can deny that she ' s among the cutest of our Peace girls. Peace will certainly lose something without Ruth next year. Irene McQueen Barron Rock Hill, S. C. Sigma Phi Kappa; Current Events Club, ' 37; P.S.C.A. Cabinet, ' 38; Advertising Staff, LO- TUS, ' 38; Granddaughter ' s Club. Irene is one of the finest girls we know. She is friendly, good-natured, and likable. She has taken part in many activities and has upheld the standards of Peace in every way. We all recognize her as a true Peace girl and some- one we can always count on. (She ' s plenty cute when she does her Rangatang, too.) If 18

3f THE LOTUS SENIOR CLASS • Doris Virginia Brown Fayetteville, N. C. Sigma Phi Kappa; Glee Club, ' 37, ' 38; Pres- ident, ' 38; Current Events Club, ' 37; Repre- sentative, Senior Class on Council, ' 38; College Head, Baseball, ' 38; Archery Club, ' 38; Priv- ileged Honor Roll. Our Dottie is a fine, v?ell-rounded girl with high ideals; one whom we would be proud to point out as a Peace girl anywhere. Her friendliness, charm, and sunny disposition have impressed all of us deeply. She accepts any task that falls to her lot enthusiastically and does it well. Admirable qualities? Dottie has many! We sincerely hope for Dottie the very best in life, tor she deserves it! Nancy Porter Brown Charlotte, N. C. Pi Theta Mu; Current Events Club, ' 37; Papyrus Club, ' 38; Treasurer of Senior Class, ' 38; Lit- erary Editor of Voices of Peace, ' 38. A cheerful word to help begin a dreary, rainy day is typical of Nancy Porter ' s readiness to help at all times; and her scholastic record adds much to the statement. Her entire lack of self- ishness, her habitual good humor, and unfailing generosity mark her as a worthwhile friend, ft would have been a great loss not to have known her. 20
