My dear Graduates: A poet once wrote HTwo roads diverged in a wood, and I--I took the one less traveled by .........H These words written over a half century ago are still figuratively apt--hut, now, there are literally hundreds of roads, each offering a great challenge to each of you. Already you have accepted the challenge of your high school education and you have won. Your diploma is proof of that. You undertook the work, suffered setbacks, gained rewards, endured sorrows on occasion, and rejoiced at good times. You have conquered and have completed successfully what might well be the most important segment of your life work. Now there are roads that lead to college, into the service, even into the immediate economic stress of life itself. The choice is yours. We have sincerely tried to prepare you for any road on which you may travel. If we have failed in our task, we still have faith that your own natural abilities will enable you to bridge the gap and to overcome If we have succeeded, the results will be obvious, and we surely will be gratified and happy. l am proud of be prouder of our city, our becomes truly you as the you as you state, and evident to senior members of our student body. I shall become the mature and respected citizens of our nation. I shall be the proudest when it all that you are wholeheartedly engaged in making this world of ours a better place in which to live for all its inhabitants of whatsoever creed, color, or origin.
