Page Two META Peabody High School FOREWORD Four fleeting years have sped past and we are faced with the long awaited day of our gradua- tion from high school. Reflection upon the accomplishments of the last four years in Peabody High School must bring to all of us the realization of the debt we owe to her who has guided us and protected us and nourished us during the formative days of our youth. All that Alma Mater symbolizes to us, to those who have preceded, and to those who are to follow, will be brought viv- idly to mind in the years to come. Enough, for the present, to say that we are young and impressionable, and the full import of what our high school has done for us will register on only a few of our youthful minds. We have, perhaps, in many cases taken high school for granted, giving little thought during this period of our lives to all that our parents, our taxpayers, our city have done for us in furnishing us with the means by which we might better prepare for the work in life that is to be ours. As the time approaches when we shall forever leave these hallowed halls, we have the feeling that we do not wish our happy high school days to end. We would halt Father Time in his inex- orable march and try to hold indefinitely those happy hours that we have enjoyed here among our school companions, our friends of the present and of the future. But Time has a way of moving swiftly on, giving no heed whatsoever to the wishes of any man, and because we hope to preserve some of the memories of these happy days we have prepared our Year Book, our META of 1942, in the sincere hope that as we turn the pages in the years to come, vivid memories of the days that were will be brought back, crystal clear, to our minds, and we, all of us of the Class of ' 42, will live again the happiest days of our lives.
