FACULTY 34 This nation is obligated to con- tinue and to expand its support of the total educational struc- ture. It must reinforce its com- mitment to the education of its whole population. Our nation must do this in an atmosphere of fairness and justice so that the dreams and the hopes of every man shall be tested by but one criterion - to what extent each person is personally willing to achieve the degree of excellence that is inherent in himself. For if each should do that, he shall be rewarded by his fellows by their recognition of his personal dignity and by his own knowledge of his par- ticipation in the enlargement and enhancement of the lives of others. Students must be posi- tively supported in their desires to achieve the good life and to share the opportunities that should be open to them in the best interest of our society and the future of our nation. G. S. Fauntleroy It is my very special pleasure to express my proud feeling of all our students who are in attendance here at Peabody Junior High School. R. Stephenson Teachers are here to help you And point you in the right way. They tell about things important in life And hope you are here to stay. They tell about math and science, That most of our students don ' t like. But if you want to survive in life , We better learn it right. They tell us about all the rules That we should follow while we ' re in school. They tell us how to control ourselves And how to follow the Golden Rule. They help us to have better manners Each and every day. But if you don ' t go by them, JONES, ALBERT W. Mr. A. W. Jones is a true Peabodian. He graduated from Peabody. When he finished college, he came back and has been here ever since. All of his children, who are now going to college, graduated from Peabody. He was a PE teacher for 18 years, a football coach, and an assistant principal. In 1972 he became principal of Peabody Jr. High School. Mr. Jones says the students today are more intelligent than in previous years. The problem is trying to channel their intelligence in the right direction. He has always considered Peabody as one of the best Jr. High Schools in the State of Virginia. I would like to see the day when all of our students would take part in all of the activities of the school and really become true Peabodians. DAVIS, PERCY Vocational Guidance GOODE, CHARLES R. Aide 35 To many of us it seems the days are passing faster than ever before. We are now at the end of another school year. School, to some, is boredom and drudgery , to others , it is a challenge and an opportunity for learning. But each of us should have a positive goal to achieve , a desire for fulfillment and happiness and a specific , positive purpose each day. With the right spirit, even the unpleasant task has within it some hidden riches which contribute to our fulfillment. I hope you will find this true in your own personal life, too. G. E. Peal I don ' t think I heve ever had a work environment as pleasant as Peabody. I feel good about coming to school , I miss being here during vacations, and I look forward to Mondays, which to all working people, means a great deal. I enjoy my counselees and think this age group is an interesting and fascinating adventure . I guess what I’m really saying is I’m Happy! G. Sears FACULTY
