During the first semester the club was unable to perform their plays because the sponsor left school, however the sad faces turned happy because two new sponsors stepped in to help, Mrs. M. Jones and Mrs. R. Hairston .

CONCERT MARCHING BANDS Time, patience and effort all play a major part in making our band the suc- cess that it is. Whether playing at a football game, at a concert or in a parade, the band, under the direction of Mr. H. Brower, adds life and color to the occasion. The band started during summer school. Members have rehearsed after school from 3:30 until 5:00 pm and some 7:00 am practices were held also. The band consists of about 95 members including the flag ] 1 7 girls, rifle girls and the majorettes. It has performed in half-time shows at Peabody’s games and also at Virginia State College and at Peabody ' s field for a Titians game. In order to achieve its greatest heights, the members of the band must have that most important quality: Teamwork. The band has been an active and cultural addition to our school. Among the band ' s accomplish- ments are performances in city parades. It is noted for its great spirit, origi- nality , and skill . The Peabody Band is really cool And we don ' t mind practicing after school. Even though the music is really tight, We don ' t mind practicing because we want to get it right . There are many opportunities waiting for you . Learn some old things and also some new . We go places, do things, learn new names. Even when we do things , we learn new games .
