FLAG GIRLS AND RIFLE GIRLS Being a flag girl is very exciting. I’m a person who likes to travel and meet new faces and places. It ' s hard work, but very fun. I think our best performance was at Virginia State College. And the second most important performance was in the Hopewell Christmas parade. Patricia Ann Jones 113 FLAG GIRLS Mr. Brower sponsors and super- vises the girls assigned to carry the flags. Performances were given in the Christmas Parades in Hopewell and Colonial Heights. They also were invited to Virginia State Col- lege. CHEERLEADERS 115 ' he cheerleaders are one of our chool’s most important and ewarding organizations. They ire responsible for the team pint at our games and in our chool. Traveling everywhere vith the football and basketball earns, you can tell that they re always proud to be showing iff our school ' s outstanding ecord in sports. They also help tith the pep rallies and lead he Pep club and crowd in the beers . eing a cheerleader isn ' t all fun nd games, it can be hard work ometimes. To become a heerleader you must be able to o two cheers and jumps and be ery loud and enthusiastic in oing them. Then you have to e able to do a cartwheel, tund-off , split can wheel into split, and then an optional :unt. Even after you make the tuad, there is more work with ractices in the summer and uring the season. You should Iso be an easy person to get long with. Two women who illingly devote their time and xperience in sponsoring this roup are Mrs. Wheat and Ms. itzgerald. They help us cor- ict what is wrong, give us leas for cheers and become lose friends to each of us. he squad captain is Angela holson who is assisted by Ste- hanie Pride. The other girls re Teresa Adams, Teresa srry, Crystal Bullock, Sherry owler, Audrey Hudson, Kelly r hite, Peggy Scott, Cathy tafford, Linda Taylor, Sherry r hite, Lisa Mountcastle and anette Stith.
