More teachers should get involved as sponsors in the activities so that more needs of the students can be met. For example, we should be able to offer intramural sports to all Peabodians and self-defense classes for the girls. We should become more civic minded and involved in our organizations . I don ' t care about the club meeting. The people that don’t go just sit in home room for half an hour doing nothing. The teachers want you to do some work but who wants to do work! Richard Coty All of the activities are wholesome, but some consume too much of the classroom time. They tend to interfere with the normal work in the class. I. Jeter GETTING INVOLVED Pretty soon, it should be mandatory for every student to attend . F. Morgon In my opinion club meetings are all right. It gets students involved in the school projects. It keeps some students out of trouble. Club meetings can help schools become more fun and less boring. Kelly Crigger Petersburg Activity Period is the best time of the day at Peabody Jr. High School. Kids run up and down the halls to go to their history, science, Literary, and other various clubs. Some kids say they don’t have time for clubs because they have work to catch up on . Howard McCain When first coming to Peabody I had no idea what clubs I wanted to join. To my surprise one of my teachers from last year had recommended me for the SCRIPT. So I decided I would at least try it. At the first meeting of the SCRIPT, I found a lot of my friends were also in there, and also that the sponsor (Mrs. Fisher) wouldn’t allow any one to join unless they were recommended by another teacher. There were a lot of people showing up wanting to be a member of the SCRIPT, but Mrs. Fisher wouldn ' t let them. Then she told us it was a great honor to be a member of the PEABODY SCRIPT, so I decided to stay and I ' m glad . Yvette Bethea What do you do in Activity Period? Some people go to club meetings and some people just stay in their classes bored to death. Other students tell lies so that they can get out of the class. Well, I can ' t say much because I do it myself. Not all the time. Next time you have Activity Period do like I do and go to the Library. Yvette Chatmon Many students do not stop to think of the benefits they might receive from these activities. S. Gordan
