HAT9 OFF DEMURRING OF HATS Hats are here , hats are there , hats are everywhere . Makes people think, What ever happened to their hair? For what reason do they wear them; I ' ll never know. I wish for someone to please tell me so. I wonder if those people ever get hot; 1 mean , wearing those ridiculous hats a lot . Hats are worn even when it ' s warm. Oh, that ' s so silly. They shouldn ' t be worn unless it ' s cold or chilly. If only I could have my own way with hats. I ' d collect them all and they ' d be thrown to the rats. If I could only do so , then that would be the end of that . And the world would look better Without each unnecessary hat. Cynthia Edmonds Chris Foreman We feel that male students should not be allowed to wear hats in school because we don ' t need a hat to look good. Hats are usually worn to hide dirty or messy hair. Just keep clean, hair neat, and be yourself. Choose something else to match your clothing. Hats probably won ' t stay in style. A hat cannot bring out the real you , you have to do that by yourself. A man should be a man, and a gen- tleman does not wear head coverings indoors. I have found that the removal of a hat inside the building is a matter of personal courtesy. Of course, hats do not interfere with learning, and to a certain extent, I would prefer seeing a hat as opposed to some heads. However, the wearing of hats has increasingly become an act of rebellion to old customs rather than for warmth or looks. My feel- ing is that school is a place where personal grooming, and personal values should be developed and encouraged, I feel confident that a president of a company, where one may apply for a job, would be offended at seeing a hat perched on one ' s head.

HATS Hats are the style, they ' re really in. Some are thick , but most are thin . Under every hat you ' ll see Mr. Cool, Either in a car , or playing pool . There are hats for the ones that are shy , Who wear them almost over their eye . There are hats that sit up high , But they are for the Super Fly. So get your hat , and wear it proud And you will be one of the crowd . Whether summer or fall , winter or spring , You ' ll see hats are still the thing. Cynthia Edmonds Chris Foreman We feel that male students should be allowed to wear hats in scho ol because they make us look more attractive. Hats are in style and they match what we ' re wearing today. They give us personality. They make us feel good, proud, and cool. Hats help us belong to the new generation. Since they don ' t harm anyone, we should be allowed to wear what we want. Women wear hats, why can ' t men? 86 STUDENTS FOR HATS STUDENTS AGAINST HATS Denise Jackson Pricilla King Jerry Powell Horace Smith Cindy Wells Katherine Wells Deanna Williams Ernest Vaughn Andre Montgomery Cynthia Edmonds Chris Foreman Orelon Morris Regina Shands Jocie Rager Jaqueline Winfield Eddie Lilley Timothy Byrd Annette Phelps
