The purpose of the Literary Club was to encourage individuals to read and discuss books, to help students have a purpose for their reading and to know how to read to accomplish this purpose, and to increase the reading power of the student. Latin and Polygon Clubs Were Very Active The Polygon Club is composed of math students from all sections of the math dept. The main objective of the club is to promote interest and individual growth in Mathematics. The Polygon Club has been involved in securing results from the computation tests in math. As a first step it set up a program to increase skills in computation. The club is sponsored by Mrs. E. M. Westbrook and F. T. Smith. Susan Hill, Glenda Castelle, Patricia January, Mack Pullian, Maxine Basseite, Karen Wood, Micheal Pittman, Wanda Davis, Berylynn Roberts, Creg Young, Pam Wagman, Lisa Cotton, Phyliss Creech, Wesley Spriggs, Cherrie Cooksy, A very active Latin Club has visited the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. They learned many interesting things. For Christmas the Latin Club went Christmas Caroling around the school and held a Saturnalia. The Latin classes were engaged in having a Tupereulia (Festival for the coming year).
