The popular story was directed by Mrs. Rem, and presented by the following: Trent Brunner as Ebenezer Scrooge; Tim Slocombe who was Fred, Scrooge's nephew, and also one of the Cratchit boys; Dan Piland was Bob Cratchit and Fezziwig; Diona Akers played the Ghost of N Christmas Past, Cratchit girl, and Mrs. Fred; Nancy Hall as the Ghost of Christmas Present; Nancy Richmond played the parts of the Ghost of Christmas yet-to-come, and Fan; Dale Not- tingham was Marley's ghost, and Cratchit boy; Mazie Slaughter as Mrs. Feeziwig, Martha Cratchit, and Mrs. Dilber; Donna Taylor was Mrs. Cratchit; Jim Nellans played Old Joe and a boy. Ty Frederickson played Tiny Tim. This year the German Club put on the dinner before the play. All night people were getting down on the floor. music..................rhythm..................action There was plenty of action in the grade school multi - purpose room on December 16th, where the Christmas Formal was held. The sophomore-sponsored dance was well attended and liked. The floor was occupied all night with people dancing to the music of Lee Ward from Valley Center. Green and red streamers covered the sitting area. The refreshment table was another popular spot along with the festively decorated resting area. Clothing for females was layered and skirts were kept long, the style for guys didn't change much. Hair for both guys and gals was styled. There were also many popular sayings floating around the halls of P.H.S. Head rush, Freak out, Real terror, and Oh wow, were some of the famous quotes used by the guys. Performers Steve Martin and the Blues Brothers, and T.V. shows Saturday Night Live and Mork and Mindy, ranked high in the popularity vote of the '78-'79 school year. hair .... clothing .... style .... fashion Different boots were worn with jeans and .dresses. Dragging Main Street was Buddies of the same sex like Rick Cox and Shawn Kerns were seen around the halls of P.H.S. Brian Stucky models one of the many vests seen around Arlen Gfeller and Miss Schmidt show off the permed look. a favorite past time. Danny Farr, Diona Akers and Kathleen Keeler show off the popular hair styles of the year. High heeled shoes were popular with the girls. Ties, like the one Pam Stucky is wearing, could be found on many girls. Straight leg jeans were a common sight at P.H.S Gregg Webster, Galen Roberts and David Mellott portray the popular comedian Steve Martin. 27 dresses . . . .suits . . . .corsage . . . .boutonniere The last dance,' for the seniors, was Saturday 28, 1979; the theme was appropriately--the Last Dance. The disco theme was followed through with disco decorations. Tinsel pillars, angel hair, stars, and a staircase filled the gym. The banquet started off the night at 6:30 and the Newton Railaires orovided the entertainment. The dance then followed at 9:00 with Steve Pfannenstie from Manhattan as the D.J. Finally, the movie. Stephen Meirowsky and Becky Hammann work hard as they compete in the math contest at Pittsburg. 32 Photography class is designed to make pictures for the journalism class to put in the annual. Photography class did have a lot of work to do and they did do a fine job. Mike Glassner looks at the negative as he is ready to make a picture. Mike has helped the annual staff a lot by making many pictures. Arlen Gfeller focuses the enlarger as he is going to make a picture. Arlen has made many pictures for the annual staff and did many other jobs too. The students i n German Club did a fine job sup- porting their club with many activities. They did have a lot of money; there- fore, they could afford to do a lot more than other clubs. One of the main goals for the German II students was to e a rn enough to go to Germany. It's hoped that the trip will be a bi-yearly event. Ocktoberfest was one of the main highlights that the German Club sponsored. Many students enjoyed all the games and prizes given, plus the main ac- tivity, the cake walk. Also the German Club put on a dinner theatre. They had many community people involved and they had a delicious menu of German food. Afterwards, other PHS students put on a play. The German Club is also selling candy for an annual project. They did make a lot of money, and the candy is very good. German Club officers are: Sec.-Bonnie Preheim, Treas.- Pam Stucky, Vice - Pres.- Trent Brunner, Pres. - Diona Akers. 34 Stuco did a fine job supporting many activities t hat they had all year long. Rick Cox shows his talents at a Stuco Workshop in Fairfield. r 35 Many of the students in vocal, prac- tice singing as Miss Clark directs them. A lot of the students worked hard this year to achieve some of the honors they did get. The Vocal Council helped the vocal depart- ment with the many things they did. They had many concerts, and they did a fine job performing. Even though the vocal program started out doing well, many problems set in and quite a few students dropped out. Vocal Council members are: Miss Clark Director, Jill White - Publicity, Faunetta Bloomer - Librarian. Vocal started out at the first of the year with a Girls Ensemble, Boys Ensemble, and Mixed Ensemble. Many of these things changed and it was down to a Girls En- semble only. Vocal members are: Row 1: Mindy Hamilton, Lisa Logan, ‘Kathy Kem- per. Row 2: Faunetta Bloomer, Kim Rose, Nancy Hall, Jill White, Carnella Bloomer, Donna Suffield, Becky Keeler, Pam Branson. MARCHING BAND performed at all the half time Warrior football games to help support the Warriors and help en- tertain the spectators. The Band Council kept busy with the many activities the band had this year. They did have their annual fruit sale, which brought in a lot of money for a possible fu- ture trip. The two man team of Webster and Farr got 2nd in League, and Regional, and tying for 2nd with Halstead at State. The four man team of Holm, Roberts, Thrash, and Glover did not place. Webster got 2nd Medal- ist in League and Farr got 2nd Medalist in Regional. Webster also got 5th Medalist in State, which means he had the 5th best score in the state. There were two teams, but they only played a couple of times. First place this year went to the Faculty. In Wichita, they visited the new Sedgwick County Zoo; and in Peabody they toured the Gazette-Herald, post office, and library. Not only was he in charge of discipline and order in the school he also was in charge of all the athletic activ- ities. Mr. Arevalo also taught P.E., and Language Arts. Mr. Glover, principal of Peabody Grade School, seems to like his job. He is in charge of keeping discipline and order in the schuol, as well as over- seeing the many activities the students have throughout the year.
