ANN KOTTWITZ ATTENDS GIRLS STATE Sunflower Girl's State was held in June, 1974, on the Kansas University campus at Lawrence, Kansas. Each girl attending was sponsored by a local American Legion Auxiliary Post. The week was spent learning about our state government. The girls held campaigns, political rallies, and worked on city projects. They also had the opportunity to hear prominent guest speakers. STUDENT COUNCIL Seated: Greg Topham, Deb Stucky, Mitch Foote. Teresa Weems--Prose In- terpretation I. Jon Kessler--Extemporane- ous Speaking II, Dramatic Reading III. Jamie Crawford and Julie Bayes--Improvised Duet Acting I. Cynthia Stucky--Poetry Interpretation III, Prose Interpretation II. The One-Act Play, To Burn a Witch, (Paula Warkentine, Julie Bayes, Brenda Gillet, Jamie Crawford, and Koni Krause, assistant director) received a I. Those receiving I at District were eligible for State. The One-Act and the Crawford-Bayes Duet re- ceived I's. Teresa Weems received II on Prose Interpretation at State.
