We, the faculty, adminis- tration and students, have indeed come a long way. In 1976, the first magnet class began with 46 stu- dents, we have grown to an entire magnet school, offering courses that no other school in the parish can and educating over 1000 stu- dents. We are fortunate that we have at the magnet school teachers who rank among the best in the state. Our teachers enrich our minds and our spirits. These things, along with the pride, make us say the things we say so that tomorrow will be a better day. ln 1979, as the magnet school, we have quite a few reasons to be filled with spirit and pride. We, the staff, hope that within the covers of this 1979 Warhorse, you will recapture some of the moments that were so special to all of you. Head Advisor: Ms. Carol Brown Advisors: Ms. N. Martial Arts is a form of self protection which includes judo, karate, and chinese kick-boxing. The Martial Arts Club, a new organization at Peabody Magnet School, meets to learn more about this ancient oriental art. Sessions begin with a period of limbering up, and lead to practicing methods of fighting that will deter an opponent quickly and effectively, without flowery or wasted motions. 94 Y-TEENS f'N 5 Standing, L-R: Viola Towels, Tosie Cockrell, Marilyn Towels, Shelia Allen, Anita Johnson, Zandra Jefferson, Eleanor Hilton, Sheila Freeman, Dee Warner, Marilyn Boyer, Cheryl Page.
