You now have the first requirement for success-a high school diploma. Use it wisely to further your ambition in what- ever field you choose to enter. But re- member, it is only the beginning. Don't be satisfied, but strive for better training to fortify you in this very competitive world in which we live. An education, unlike wealth or even a reputation, is one of the few possessions that you cannot lose or have taken away. Therefore, I say again, use it wisely. WAYNE H. MONG Goodby, MR. BRACKMAN As students of Peabody, we felt that we were able to come to Mr. Brackman as our friend, with our problems. Through his advice, Mr. Brackman has helped us to mold our characters and further develop our minds, thus laying the founda- tion for our future security. As it is impossible for us to ap- preciate fully the advice he gave, we can thank him only through our constant use of the wisdom he offered us. To fhe 1956 Gmczluizfer of Peabody High School: Hopefully, you will discover, as you complete your high school years, that your education is only beginning, that what you have learned is but the prelude to further growth in wisdom and understanding. You need con- tinually to become more skilled in identifying and eval- uating sources of information, in understanding human reactions to various kinds of influences, in compre- hending the need for intelligent analysis before making decisions, in sorting fact from slant, distortion and opinion, reasoning from emotion. Those of you who continue your formal education will have opportunities to learn these things through the varied and interesting experiences of college and university life. But the great- er number who begin at once to participate in the work of the world, at home, in factory, mill, business or shop, must also continue to learn these important lessons through daily contacts with practical situations, through reading and study of the issues of the day. May each one of you successfully meet your individual chal- lenge. HOMER BOWER, Principal

TO THE STUDENTS OF TOMGRROW We, the seniors, will remember the days spent here at Peabody and hope that all who follow us will have the same pleasant memories. Behind these old wooden doors that open each day admitting us to learn ..... we discover that we are individuals-and above all, we learn to work and live together. Peabody and our teachers guide us into adulthood and attempt to prepare us for life. As we walk through the halls and glance into the rooms ..... we see the many wonderful opportunities that we are offered. Science and Art ..... Music and Math ..... Literature and Language ..... Shops and Social Studies ..... History and Home Economics. VVhatever we choose to study is here for us. From our class will come tomorrow's leaders, engineers, nuclear scientists, artists, and the home makers. From our class will come the rich man, poor man, baker man, thief, doctor, lawyer, and the fire chief. From our class and from yours, as in the past and in the future, will come the ever Howing strength and continued growth of our Democracy. As our Pittsburgh High Schools look at the beginning of a second century of turn- ing out to the world the people of tomorrow, we hope that the Peabody's record of success may be one of continuing progress. Although many new problems will arise, these problems will be dealt with democratically and thoughtfully, just as they have been in the hundred years gone by. The Public High School, we are sure, will do its part academically and socially in bringing into the light the students who are the backbone and government of the world of tomorrow.
