Turner Mrs. Canzata Turner Counseling, which is one phase of our guidance program, is the function of all staff members, although specific duties may be delegated to certain individ- uals . The primary purpose of our counseling program is to increase the efficiency of the instructional program by working with individuals. Students who are upset, ill, lacking in motivation, anxious, fearful, or unwisely placed, cannot make the best use of their learning opportunities. It is the responsibility of the teacher and the counselor to assist students with such problems and to derive methods, when possible, of preventing their occurrence. Guidance is a continuous process which starts in infancy and continues through- out life. As it related to education, it is a point of view, a process, a service, a way of working with people and an approach to the solution of problems. Based on our philosophy, we believe that guidance is an integral part of our school program o To achieve a workable, constructive program, close cooperation among the staff members, the home, the church, the school and other commu- nity agencies is essential. 9
